Do you have a beard?
« on: Sun, 04 October 2015, 17:25:44 »
Collecting data on the ratio of bearded vs non-bearded men and women on GH. A simple yes or no is good enough for an answer, you can put 'yes' for other facial hair types as well.

Yes. I am beard.

Nice. Either way I look like an idiot. It takes forever for it to grow out. I honestly think it would take me close to a year to grow out to the level represented in the first frame. I don't even try anymore.

Most of the women I work with. One girl has a full on chin beard, very visible. I never understand how she looks in the mirror every morning and is cool with that, butr whatever, she's dating one of the data leads so maybe some guys are into that?

I haven't shaved since high school (9 years).

I would be curious to see if the people here who don't have a beard have a genetic disposition toward light facial hair.  (i.e. Asian)

A quick blurb about why I will never be clean shaven again:

Once I got a haircut. And made the crucial error of a clean shave the same evening. No one recognized me at work for 3 days, they all thought I was new.

I like keeping a full and somewhat short beard.

I had a beard for a couple of years around 1986-87.

Mustaches off and on from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s, and occasional van Dyke.

Clean shaven since.

Ever since I left school I've had at least stubble, never clean shaven. Occasionally I'll grow it out until it gets too hot and I have to get rid of it. So... I'm going to go with yes!

I hope to have a beard come April next year, but it all depends on how my team does. I've grown a beard a few times during the winter, but always get fed up with it when June roles around.

Yes, but I try to keep it confined around my jaw and chin. And I really can't stand having a moustache.

Are there any wet shavers in here? Is it possible to avoid cutting myself altogether if I'm really careful (with a safety razor), or is it bound to happen to anyone inexperienced? You really can't afford to damage your skin on Accutane, it'll scar over instead of healing properly.

I have a "chin strengthener". Also known as a "soul patch" I guess. I had a full beard a number of years ago, but was persuaded to shave it off when people saw pictures of how I looked without it. I think I look best how it is now, a small patch on the chin, shaved smooth elsewhere, but I do not enjoy shaving. My skin gets irritated easily and it's such a time consuming task.

A gripe I have about full beards, though. If you have one, please take some time each week to groom it. A little trimming goes a long way to taking it from "bird's nest" to "ooh, nice beard".

no, just trimmed it. i never shave though.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Yeah!1!!

Calling all bearded females!!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

For whatever reason.. Females won't talk to me unless they're drunk.. But I do alrite afterwards

Just slightly higher upfront cost.

But here's the difficult part,  How to find girls who will drink first,  then talk to Tp4, then keyboards..

I'm not sure I can combo into this from 5p  . gotta find a frame in there to jump buffer.
