Bizarre.
I feel like the Crash game and market has kind of gone. Ratchet & Clank do 3D platformers better than anyone else bar Nintendo, and I don't think nostalgia is enough to fund a proper project? Either way EA or Activision own the Crash licence and I don't see a reason for them to use it, they couldn't even work Crash into there Smash Bro's clone

Spyro is on his own new venture and will never come back.

As for Crash I can't see him coming back to the big leagues. Watch him come back as a PSP or Vita game.

Crash was awesome. It also graphically holds up quite well considering it's age. The Naughty Dog people at the time were doing some crazy stuff! Awesome read if you are remotely interested in vida game history: http://all-things-andy-gavin.com/2011/02/02/making-crash-bandicoot-part-1/

Yeah the R.Y.N.O was always absurdly powerful, but it had that absurd price tag to match. It got better in the later games, but man, I remember  in the first one, I had to keep going back to levels and replaying them to get 150,000 bolts...

There's a developer commentary series done by two of the guys who worked on R&C on youtube which is awesome. One was a programmer and the other a level designer IIRC, it's quite cool to hear about all the things they went through during the dev cycle

Ha ha! Saw that yesterday. I love when people mod consoles without ruining them, leaving their full functionality intact while making singular pieces of art.

I was fortunate enough to aquire a Game Boy Micro recently so I'm really into GBA games right now. Impulse bought Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced for GBA and it's super fun. Looking forward to picking up more Crash games on GBA and the main series.

Absolutely. The first three and the first one on the DS are easily the best in the whole franchise other than the Genesis/Mega Drive games. Also, Advance Wars if you haven't gotten it. And, of course, Mother 3!
If you have an EZ-Flash IV, you can dump them on there if you're not totally convinced to buy the real carts just yet. I usually demo ROMs that way before hunting down the actual carts.

I definitely would love to see him back! It would require me getting a PS4, but they can't be as expensive as they were any more, especially not if I get one used.
My childhood, so many hours spent on Crash Bandicoot, so much rage over boss fights as well.

I am just not interested in paying that much for a PS4 to be honest, I'm more of a PC person and spending too much on something I won't use as much.
So I'll take the poor people's PS4 :))

I'm not so sure it'll run anything besides those 2.5D scrollers at 4K...

But hey, I'd settle for 1080p..  which they promised us on PS3..
