I saved up and bought a PS2 and GranTourismo in Feb of 99 so i think for 1998 it was really more like Quake2 maybe and Starcraft. I dont think Diablo2 came out till 1999 either.

The first Gran Turismo for PS2 was GT3 A-spec which was released in 2k1 if I remember correctly. It is the only game I completed 100 % on that console.

wow, you're right. It must have been GT2 then?! I had just moved out of my parents house after highschool. My brother and I were still playing massive amounts of Goldeneye on N64 I think.

Starcraft

Still play it occasionally.

:) greatest game in history

+1, Starcraft 2 on the other hand, was less than stellar. too little, too late.

Definitely Ocarina of Time for me.

I didn't have a 64 growing up, so I didn't get to play it until I got my Gamecube with the Master Collection. It actually wasn't love at first sight, but I was convinced to give it another shot and I've loved it ever since. Can still go back and play it (or the 3DS remake) and be amazed at how well it holds up.

I started learning how to build PC's (and play games on them) in 2001. The best for me from 1998 were Half Life & Unreal. I liked first-person games mostly. I do love GTA 5 however.

That I was playing in '98: I'd say Panzer Dragoon Saga and Tomb Raider III.
Ah, the Saturn. Good times.

Alright, I need to come clean. I started playing Quake but the game I played the most in 1998 was Parasite Eve. Definitely one of the creepiest games endings. But flipping over the game and reading the back is what hooked me. That kind of CGI wasn't really around back then, it was refreshing (inb4 six boobed creepy cow villian). Plus zombie dinosaurs. ZOMBIE--DINOSAURS. Dude, zombie, dinosaurs. One of these days I'll check out the second and third installments

There's no doubt in my mind that Half-Life and Thief are the two of my favorite games released from that year.
While that year had a lineup that's not matched by any year up untill this day, I hope that changes in the future...

At first I thought this was a silly question, but then I looked up a list of releases in 1998.

Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie, Half Life, Star Craft, and many more...

Brood War absolutely, I remember spending hours on end playing against my friends on LAN. I don't know how I played that much without going insane
