So why are so many 4k TV's w/ 120hz so cheap now? Walmart has a Samsung 55" 4k, 120hz for $698...Feel like I need to stick it out a bit longer...

The only drawback to  TVs has been the lack of ULMB..

Sony has that gaming mode blinking mode which is similar, only flashes the backlight at 60hz, and not 120hz like Gaming monitors..


I am patiently waiting for a 120hz ULMB big screen.

Just don't fall for buying a curved TV. They are such a gimmick. While curved monitors make sense, curved TVs are just pointless IMO.

In my non-expert opinion, they are good for monitors because you can't usually fit your whole monitor in your main field of vision. The curve ensures that everything stays in focus throughout your peripheral vision. With a TV, you should be able to fit pretty much all of the screen in your main field of vision (provided you buy the right size TV for your room size, a factor a LOT of people overlook) and the curve can even be detrimental to your viewing experience, especially if you have people spread throughout the room watching it.

The idea of a curved TV stems from watching films at the cinema, where the screens have been curved for a while.

The problem with curved displays is they only have one really good viewing angle, straight on. The reason that wouldnt really work in a living room or TV room is not all people in the room/all the seating in the room can look at the display at its best viewing angle.

Don't waste your time and money on a regular led.  Oled is the way to go if you want everyone that sees your tv to gasp in awe.  The tech is changing so fast right now that I would suggest getting what you can afford and enjoy.  If you want to use it for any gaming, take note of the response times.  I bought a Sharp 4k a little bit ago and the thing had so much lag that it was impossible to game on.  Had to take it right back the next day.  I ended up with a 1080p since it was in my budget (the Sharp was over half off on Black Friday and was the only 4k even close to my budget).

OLED is just as blurry as LCDs without ULMB..

and OLED will NEVER match LCDs in motion clarity because they simply do not produce enough light to be Blinked quickly..

We are at least 20 years away from OLEDs matching the Motion clarity of backlit blinked LCDs..


People simply don't understand the technology think OLED is the future.. 

OLED makes a better picture frame...  That's about it...

The LG Ultra HD 4k models are what we use for testing 4k applications. They are OK, but don't have enough inputs in the back imo.

Never ever had any issues with them breaking though, which is quite good for a pool of a few hundred.

If this is for pc gaming I would suggest you just get a 144hertz monitor.
PC Gaming on big screens makes me a little sick because I have to move my head around so much.
also you will never be competitive in csgo or dota or lol playing on a t.v. because of the time it takes you to move your head when you normally would not have to.

60 fps on streaming. no higher.
I would still buy a 240 hertz for future proofing.
