Maybe you have the patience to get in the shower first thing in the morning, but I don't. After lying inert for eight hours, the last thing I want to do is drag myself through a predictable, mundane task like showering.
Instead, I don the previous day's clothes (yes, this took some getting used to) and do one or two things I wanted to do the previous day but didn't have time for. Then I have breakfast, usually whilst reading news, emailing, etc. And then, once I've accomplished something, I get in the shower and sacrifice the next 5 or 10 minutes of my life to routine.
Doing it this way makes me feel like I'm in charge of my life, rather than being a slave to ritual. (Having said that, I gather some of you are big into the latter, so nothing personal.)
