Amazon Pricing.. WTH ?
« on: Thu, 22 September 2016, 10:19:22 »
bought 5 items on amazon in the last 3 days.

2x items, paid $11 each, they're now priced at $51

2x items, paid $13 each, they're now priced at $116

1x item, paid $67, now, $202.00

So did Tp4 really save,  $354,  or is Amazon overcharging the hell out of n00bies..

Lately I've built a few virtual systems on pcpartpicker but my Amazon lists always have the upper hand on pricing due to shipping costs. Granted some items can't be found on Amazon, but still, the price of shipping can be steep

Large sellers typical use repricers so I would say the low seller went out of stock and all the other sellers bumped up the price automatically to capitalize on it.

It's one of two things:

1) algorithms gone wild - some sellers never want to show out of stock so they show the price to buy somewhere else and then ship to you. Now if you have two people doing the same thing you get crazy price explosions like these

2) Standard Amazon and eBay scam - when someone links to an individual listing jack the price up.

Support your local markets or something like that. I read it on a billboard once. Thought it sounded cool

This imho doesn't work in the united states..  the distance between -local-markets- is simply too vast for efficient transport of goods.

There are usually various sellers for the same item, so the price listed can also vary. That's why I keep a bunch of stuff on my wishlist so I can monitor the prices and wait for large discounts.

You're preaching to the choir over here. Uber is the best thing to happen to Florida since like.. waterparks were invented. But now the waterparks are closing so technically Uber is #1 of everything. Don't go to water parks in Texas without seeing that they have the proper permits, though. Florida is a long walk from Texas but everything is bigger in Texas including water parks built on cliffs. Totally metal though if you ask me
