I love T-Mobile, especially since they don't require contracts now. We have been with them for 15 years (except for a 2-year contract with Sprint a few years ago that sucked).

We have 4 lines with unlimited everything and it is quite a bit more than that.

Depends on your coverage, and what you are looking for.  I have T-Mobile, and they are alright.  If you have good tmo coverage, and dont talk much, they have a prepaid plan for 500 minutes/5gb data for $30.  Its pretty killer if you can survive off of it.  I have a simple choice plan through them, and am very happy.  I am not too keen on their new 'one' plans though.  Seems like they are moving away from their initial uncarrier approach now that they have more users, and are starting to have plans more like the big two.

Their coverage has improved dramatically and you can't beat no contract + most bandwidth usage for your dollar (or yen for Tp)

Oh, and prepaid isnt bad at all.  If you have a large family though, postpaid is gonna be more affordable.  But for one line or two, prepaid with mostly beat out postpaid.

This is what you are looking for.  Been using one myself for many years.  No oroblems, because they use the networks of the big carriers.  Enjoy.

With any pre-paid plan, since you lack roaming, you really need to see how good coverage is in the places you travel.

For example where I live,
At&T and Verzon cover the most
T-mobile covers one neighborhood no one else does, however I can't get data inside my house
Sprint covers most areas and I can get data. I used them for 14 years however, I refuse to use them after they burned me on a phone I bought.


I have Cricket.. It's pretty good.
It's the same as AT&T minus roaming, but considering AT&T coverage, that's not much of an issue really.  They're communication with customers when down could be better, but the service is good.
And yes, they do throttle you, 8Mbps on 4g and 4Mbps on 3g and if you exceed your plan they throttle you more.

8 megs is plenty on a cell phone and I will gladly take 8meg consistent, to 22megs inconsistent, especially when it comes with better coverage and for less money.

I use Google Voice with a prepaid T-Mobile plan. Tmo has a $30 prepaid plan for 100 minutes, unlim text, 5GB of high speed (and unlim slow speed after that). I use GV over data/wifi using Hangouts Dialer for all calls and never touch the 100 minutes.

GV uses a small amount of data, 50-200 kilobits/sec so 23-90 megabytes per hour of talking. It works fine with the throttled/slow speed after burning through the 5GB high speed.  Personally I don't run out of data, because Binge On cancels out any of the heavier data suckers like YouTube or music streaming, but my friend does so he did some test calls while throttled and it still worked. Bonus feature of GV is that I can send texts from computer using Hangouts.


Check your coverage of course. My city sucks with Sprint/Boost but is great with Tmo. My friend who traveled said that his girlfriend's Tmo lacked service in the sticks and he used his Verizon connection.
