I don't buy a lot of keycaps, I've only bought 1 x set of Ducky Shine 3 blanks and 2 x Red ESC keycaps.

Less than 1k for sure. If only I had discovered the joy of the model F sooner, I would have saved a LOT of money (no need to hunt keycaps and special custom things, just need a 15$ converter and a soldering station and be patient to find good deals on model F on ebay!).


Still have to receive my Sprit pcb to be able to sell it since I will never use it. I don't think I will sell my last Filco since I want to keep one at least. Probably will sell a set of pbt keycaps.


Anyway, if I went for model F only, I would be under 500$ and would have a LOT of nice stuff.


And yea, selling stuff counts to reduce the global money spent! It's like trading

So probably 2-3k when I include the keysets. O_o

Easily 3k. It's going to get a lot worse now that there's a steady stream of nice SA keycap sets in the pipeline. And it's not helping that I've recently gotten into gathering and refurbishing old Model Fs either.

On stuff for my custom build including my Toxic order, quote for laser, and tooling, probably over $700.

Although I will probably be adding $1200+ to the tooling bill this fall/winter with a DRO equipped Sherline Mill.

For my moneys on caps, ~$300 for toxic, the Bro Caps set, a few random novelty caps, and 2 SP crap bags.

I'm in the same boat, Ray.  I just found a Pure and a Poker at my parent's house this weekend when I went to visit.  No idea where they're from and why they were even there.  Next to them were four bags of random Tai Hao keycaps that I don't remember ever ordering. 

To get a little bit back on topic, I can say that since I've been back (2 months ish), I've spent roughly $700 not counting the 356 I traded to Bunny since I'm not really losing or making money on that.

The only time I bought a keyboard was before I knew about mechanical keyboard stuffs. It was a refurbished Logitech G510 from ebay. I have never bought a mechanical keyboard, I only have one (Quickfire TK Cherry MX Red) and I got it for Christmas. I have however bought modding supplies such as o-rings and paint, so in total I have only spent about $30 on keyboards.

Realistically, I am trying to wind down.

My "Naked 122" has been my primary board for a year or more, and I do not see that changing. Sure, I have rotated a couple of dozen others onto my desk for a few minutes or hours or days, and I am typing on one of my backup Model F-122s even now, but that is the exception rather than the rule.

During the past year, I have completed my 2 of my 3 primary "end-game" projects: blue Alps transplanted into a Northgate Omnikey 101 and a Filco Zero. Remaining is converting my Model F AT to near-ANSI adding Alt keys and internal Teensy.

I have a couple of immaculate fully-modded F-122s and a couple of primo Model Ms. If I ever manage to stumble across a reasonably-priced SSK at a time that I have the money in my pocket, I will buy it, and that will probably complete my IBM buckling spring collection. Likewise if I was ever able to acquire a Kingsaver, but I have pretty well written that off.

And I have at least a dozen keyboards, with various odd switches that I really like, in "deep storage" in boxes in the basement.

Beyond that, I have a big pile of stuff that I need to sell off and get out of the house. But I keep accumulating more junk because I can't resist interesting 2nd-hand gear that is cheap.

Whatever. It is what it is.

If you ever consider letting go of one of your 122s, consider me a buyer. I have this urge to have a back up. Not that I need it, I just really want it!

I've bought only 2 keyboards, a very good NMB with dome switches and a Monterey with the world's worst mechanical switches.  Everything else was free, several with mechanical switches, several IBM model F and model M.

Definitely over 5K!!! More like 6-7K over last 3 years. Out of that about 2K went to pay to a bad machinist for a chair mounting setup that I can never recover.

My ErgoDox has been more expensive than I'd prefer, but I don't think I'm actually losing any money on keyboards, when I take resales into account. Definitely nowhere near $1 per post or even more.

Note that ErgoDox, TypeMatrix 2020 and Noppoo Choc Mini are the only keyboards I've bought brand new for anything like "retail" price in last three years or so.
