RIP Internet Explorer ?
« on: Wed, 15 June 2022, 17:26:17 »
Today I heard that IE is being permanently discontinued.

Personally, I got on Firefox soon after it came out and have been there almost continuously since.

I avoided IE as much as I could, but for a long time it seemed like the easiest way to update MS software so I let it hang around on the sideline.

"It turns out that for a decade, whenever Trump wanted to get a loan, or make a deal, he would inflate the value of his real estate. For instance, suggesting that his 11,000-square foot penthouse was a 30,000-square foot penthouse.
And the attorney general of New York knew that Trump's property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties.
It was all part of a very sophisticated real estate practice known as “lying.”

Good.
Should have happened years ago.

And not rest in peace, let it rot in hell.

Firefox is my only browser since years  and I love it so much.

I used Chrome around 2010 when Firefox was slow but now, Firefox is IMHO the best browser available on the market :)

No big deal. It has been practically dead for the consumer a long time now. Only kept alive because of bureaucracy in some organisations.

Ublock Origin is far better.

Only kept alive because of bureaucracy in some organisations.

There is a LOT of companies who force it's use internally and externally, seriously, it's a lot.

So long as MS left it available, they were never going to redo these websites, some still won't.

force it's use internally and externally

So, it will continue to exist without support, for as long as users want to use it? And will a cottage industry come along and provide ongoing support?

And will anti-virus and other ancillary software companies drop it?

I only used IE back in 90s. As soon as Firefox came out, all of us moved to it. Then to Chrome later on.

Of course not.

Edge is now just Chrome, the difference is that it gives your data to MS and Google.

all of us moved to it. Then to Chrome later on.

I tried Chrome briefly and hated it. Then I also worked for a company for almost 3 years where it was the standard.

Delighted to be able to use Firefox full-time now.
