Alot of companies do this now, they have them make almost 100% of the components in China.. then ship, do assembly in home country.. Print made in Home country.
For example, Maidenform, most of their stuff says made in usa, but what they actually do is, they order the stuff from China, then when it arrives, they sew the last threads on here in the us..
This is just how the world works now..
It doesn't go for things that are High tech, but for low tech blunt instruments such as this.. It's almost a certainty.
I have visited the Victorinox factory and have seen how they make and hand assemble these knifes, these are made in Switzerland. They keep cost down by keeping the production high. These are all very high quality tools.
Did you see them smelt the blanks then drop forge the blades?
Did you see the entire factory line, or just parts of it..
Remember what was it, economics class, there was this story about salad oil..
Where the plant manager filled the bottom of the vat with water, and the salad oil floated on top..
Then upon inspection, the inspected half the stock in the morning, took the inspector out for lunch.... Then as they were eating lunch, workers moved the salad oil from the partially filled water tanks they inspected in the morning to the empty tanks they were going to inspect in the after noon..
Then when they came back for the afternoon inspection, there was yet more salad oil, while all the day time tanks were empty..
My point is, What YOU SAW is not gospel, and may VERY WELL be a front for the fact that they're importing most of their stuff...
And China is very discreet about paperwork and statistics.... basically no one cares....
