Movie is lame duck. kinda disappointed..

Evil Dead 3, Army of Darkness (1992) was a much better movie.

I thought it was good, mindless fun. 

I mean, if you just sat down and drank alcohol, it's certainly ok,  but sober, it was just incredibly bland, it's like you want to yawn, but it's got all the flashing lights going, and the whole experience was of discomfort.

Not saying it's the worst movie ever, just very oddly annoyed.

Can you even compare the two though? This is some nowadays hollywood garbage, while Army of Darkness has some actual passion behind the project. Also Sam Rami vs Zack Snyder on a horror movie is like a NFL team playing a high school's JV squad IMHO.

Recycled story, cliche' lines/drama, B-D list actors, Michael Bay films have more character development.

I think if they'd taken it a little less serious all of this would have been a lot more acceptable and even expected making this an actual good film, instead everything is just sterile and dull.

If they narrowed the size of the team more of them could've had better lines.  it may have been the size that diluted the context, making it unwieldy ?

You can say all the lines you want but if they fall flat it won't help.
This is a director issue.

By the way, there is a tv series of this already in the works, it focuses on the initial outbreak in Vegas. Most if not all of the actors are back for it and will also include Christian Slater.
