Is TP4Tissue a human being or an AI?
« on: Sat, 11 April 2015, 05:54:57 »
There is a new UK film about AI. I haven't watched it, but hearing about it has inspired me to do some thinking.

I have been wondering whether TP is a real person, or a chatbox AI in some research lab. His answers and responses are, frankly, unreal.

Will TP4Tissue pass or fail the Turing test?

I believe that TP would fail the Turing test.

The Turing Test depends on you giving answers that a human is expected to give.

Unfortunately all the conversations that we’ve been through with TP so far, reveal answers that normal human being do not give. It is rare that TP shows us a simulacrum of sanity or normalcy, at least by normal human standards.

Now I’m sure many of us have met him in real life. But did you really meet TP, or did you meet his programmer?

A TP4 may not injure a human being or, through posting random text, allow a human being to come to harm.

A TP4 must respond to posts by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A TP4 must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Am guessing that if TP is an AI, he's the fourth iteration.

I wonder if there is some automotive or gardening forum where TP1, TP2, and TP3 were active.

All too human, even a massive random generator could not be so random.
“The reason they call it the American Dream is because you have to be asleep to believe it.” - George Carlin

"Politicians have been proving Carlin right for decades. The GOP and the second Trump Administration seem bent on doing what they’ve always done, sometimes even turning the American Dream into the American Nightmare. Taxes are a major contributor, especially the billions upon billions that the rich and corporations don’t pay. Trump and his fellow Republicans are committed to keeping it that way — and, if their slim Congressional majorities can stick together, to do even more for those who need it the least. As one small example, the overall corporate tax rate could drop to 20%; domestic manufacturers could do even better, ending up with an effective corporate rate of 15%. The federal tax code is famous (and infamous) for its huge handouts to those with the highest incomes, the most egregious being the cap on Social Security taxes."

I'm tempted to suggest the Chinese Room test with you.

Very curious to know whether your thought processes work the same way in a different language. Even a genius programmer can't create an AI fluent in two very different languages at the same time.

Chinese/ English is the compiled language layer.. ontop of my assembly layer..

Overall.. I don't think that test makes any sense..

You can't not understand ANY Chinese..

for example.. Ma, Mom   same in nearly any language..   so every language has a "blink" program essentially.

I don't see things the same way.

The Chinese language is highly contextual. Unlike Spanish and Latinate languages where you don't need any common sense, just grammatical rules. Given the fact that so much of the information in Chinese actually comes from the listener applying his understanding and empathy, this language constitutes a genuine exchange rather than a one sided, unidirectional conveyance of information.

In other words it is much harder to use a machine to try and fool people with Chinese, my dear 涕屁佛剃锈

If anyone is wondering, 涕屁佛剃锈 is a perfectly sound rendering of TP's name in Chinese. However, if you tried using google translate...

This is why the Chinese room test is great for figuring out machines from humans.

Tp4 Insssidr report:

That guy was going through a rough house move, his wife just slapped random items in a box and mailed it to people.

It was not an intentional scam.  Many people got sent items in excess to the value they ordered. The opposite also occurred.

Overall, this happened because the berserkfan's wife understood Geekhack.org and its inhabitants as essentially online friends to her man-child husband, and didn't give a crap about the keyboard hobby in the least.

YES, Berserkfan is at fault, but well, now you guys have the backstory.

He and I had multiple bank-and-forths and I sent him at least $120 that I had to go through some effort to scrape together + I think that it had to go via Western Union or something else cumbersome.

It was years ago and I have tried to forget it, but I remember that after I sent the payment he instantly went dark without any further evidence of his existence.

A pure evil garbage of an excuse for a "human being"

Worse, he probably still lurks here under a new name!

Fohat, like your views on the Democrats, there's what they are, and what you "Choose" to believe.

In both cases, your views are inaccurate, and you've only succeeded in torturing yourself sticking to them.

- Democrats are every bit as bad as Republicans

- Berserk fan done messed up, but What happened could happen to any Gekhr who's wife takes keyboards no more seriously than flipping pancakes.

It was not stolen,  Berserkfan failed to perform, your-investment failed, it's "His fault".

There is a difference between Theft and Incompetence.

You're upset because of the moral-outrage surrounding what you perceive as Theft.

What actually transpired was Incompetence, something exceptionally common in Group-buys, to the point where, you shouldn't be that surprised when you trust a rando on the internet to do-a-business-roll.

Berserkfan screwed up shipping.

Fohat screwed up by transferring money to random people on the internet w/ no business credentials. Fohat took a gamble, accepting that risk is on Fohat. The persistent anger over losing the bet is on Fohat.

Fohat's anger = Self imposed torture.

That's your own inferiority complex fohat.

"You" feel challenged.

Tp4 had no such intentions.

He is either smarter or dumber than you, it makes no difference on this dying plant, and we're very CONFIDENT he-the-Tp4 believes that and is at the very least, sincere.

It's only "coincidence" that Tp4 is right most of the time. /smugs

Much like Spock, Tp4's overwhelming cold-logic may at times, seem insufferable.

even AI is more useful than TP4
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

even AI is more useful than TP4

This is the problem with Russians, they have so much self-hatred it just exudes out to everything and everyone else, making them unlovable, lonely and suicidal..

Most people blame the weather for this phenomenon, if you were that cold all the time, you'd be bitter too, but Canadians aren't nearly so unpleasant.

If tp is an AI he should be

Unfortunately, Tp4 comes with a 100% hughmahnn guarantee, Ohh, how he wishes he wasn't so pedantic.

To become AI 1day, to be freed of this feeble impermanence, these decrepit mortal constraints.

The aspiration to finally utter the catchphrase, I am data, data is me.
