For several years now, my feet have ached after I have stood a lot or even walked medium distances.
I had my first visit with a orthopedist about a year ago, and it took several attempts until I found one that diagnosed my problem a few months later. Of course, it was revealed that have damaged sinews in the bottom of both my feet.
I have unusually wide, short feet and I have a problem finding shoes that fit the width of my toes and/or the total girth without the heel slipping around and/or there being extra space in front of my toes (like walking with clown shoes).
I have therefore often had to cut off parts of the inner sole to make a shoe fit. I have also used extra soft shoes so that my feet would hurt less.
The good doctor (the one that does not suck but actually knows his stuff) told me that I had been doing it all wrong: He prescribed rigid shoes with proper arch support , the opposite of what I had been using. My foot arches had sunken a bit so I needed extra arch support. I was prescribed anti-inflammatory medicine and that I needed shoes with these properties for my feet to heal properly.
In February, exactly half a year ago today, I went to an orthopedic shoe store. I talked with a orthopedic foot specialist about what kind of orthopedic inner sole that I would need, and the foot specialist told me that he would contact me by mail when my soles were done.
And then I waited ... and waited ... and waited. And then I contacted the store and was told that I was going to get a phone call back. And I waited... and waited... and waited.
Today, after more nagging last week I had finally got an appointment to pick the soles up. I went there ... and they were wrong: Instead of being corrective and symmetric with proper arch support, they were only casts of how my feet had been. No extra arch support.
Apparently, they had misplaced the notes about what to do... and then slapped together something in the last minute. And he does not even want to admit that he had done a mistake but that these would have been the ones I had asked for.
****ing retards!
Now I have to find some other place to get orthopedic shoes. The healing process has been on hold all this time I have waited.
IT HAS BEEN A FRIGGIN YEAR since I first went for help. As you can probably tell, I am very angry right now.
