Thanks so much Nick! :D

The amount of work I've put in so far would probably make it a fair whack lol

Seriously sexy build. The amount of detail you have added is awesome. I love the weathered cables, not many builds go that far.

It did take some balls, thats for sure lol

Time for another small update, nothing massive as I've had a very busy weekend!

I done some carnage to the PSU!

I need to get another set of hex keys to take off the PSU cover, I lost all my dinky ones. I don't want to go too ham on the weathering and get any metallic dust or any of the powder coat inside the PSU and cause issues.

I also manged to distress the clear connectors, simply sanded random patches and used some ink to make some runs, to ensure it fits in with the theme. Its reallly hard to get some pics of the connectors when its late night in the workshop

Again, sorry for the small update, I just want to keep the thread up to date!

Thanks for looking.

James/pex

Little bit of awesome news, the build has been nominated for Mod of the Month over on Bit-Tech forum. If you are a member, I would appreciate a vote! :)

Would be cool if you used really ****ty fans,  and drained the oil..  you know to give it that authentic Grinding noise..

Also, if you break off , or chip some of the fan fins, to get that realistic fluttering..

Or maybe like ventilation shutters for the fans in the back that could be flapping real good. :)

Nah, just put nuke shaped fan grills over them and paint the blades dark and light colors.

I've mashed the fans up, but I don't think that I have put any pics of them up yet. I think you can see them in some of the previous pics. I want to keep them dark though, like they have been scavenged from spare parts. I did look at getting fan grills made, but I think it will detract from the overall aesthetic I want to go for.

Maybe some of those little ribbon things attached to the extractor fan so they blow around a bit =/
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Hey guys, time for another update!

The new board arrived on friday afternoon. The B150 is potentially an interim board as the z170M version has been delayed. If the Z170 doesn't come through, I will just stick with the B150. I plan on using the 6600K with it, even compared to my current 2500K and 280X, the 980ti and 6000K will blow it out the water, good job considering I am going 4K.

The awesome reinforced PCI-e slot

Going to test the board and the GPU before I go to town with the weathering on the heatsinks

Thanks  for looking guys.

Again, a HUGE thank you to MSI for supporting this project

Hrrrmrmmm..  Perhaps rust up just the back I/O plate..

you wouldn't rust up the ports, since you need them to ground well..  but the i/o plate is relatively inconsequential..

Hrrrmmmm...  Maybe rust the front of those heatpipes as well.. too shiny.

The GPU is going to be watercooled TP, so the backplate will be weathered, so will the block. I will wait to test the mobo and GPU before going all in on the aging

Never had an issue with MSI boards myself. I've used MSI with my P67, X79, B85 rigs and will be using this one. So far, so good. Same can't be said for Zotac! lol I used to use Asus for everything 775 and before.

Cheers brother! On the final stretch now I thinks!

Aquatuning have been very kind and supplied the rest of the wet gear to get the rig finished

The cleary blue coolant will look bang on I reckons, as I am just going with clear floppy tubing, the blue LEDs and lights will compliment it well.

Smashed the rad up in double quick time and got it installed with the out and inputs on the top. The tubing routing is a nightmare, I knew watercooling in this case (although its large) was going to be a PITA as nothing is in the right place, hence the reason I chose it, its quirky :D

I have to have a look around for a little male to male G1/4" extender in order to mount the res on-top of the pump, space in the  bottom chamber is a little sparse. I can mount the res on top to keep it relatively tidy.

Also managed to borrow some ram to test the parts

And managed to get a braided IEC cable made

I also met Vault Boy at Eurogamer this weekend too!

Thanks for looking guys

Wow!  This is a great build!

Personally I'm way to afraid of doing a custom water cooled solution.  :D

My computer might not look as badass as yours, but I'm definitely ready for Fallout 4!!!  Game is going to be epic!!!!!!!!

Well, well, well. What an absolutely crazy few days. I've been working like a trooper to get the project finished up.

I did have some issues with some of the EK blocks not fitting correctly, so to save messing about with any RMA, I just bought another and a backplate.

I have got some other in progress shots, however, I am eager to get onto Fallout 4 now as I've not had chance to play it yet! :'(

Without much furtherado... here are some pics

Photographs were taken with a Canon 70D with a 17-50mm f/2.8 and Manfrotto BeFree tripod.

I also got some amazing help from my friend Tom, who helped me out with a lovely video of the build. We used an outdoor storage area, in an old school house. There was plenty of old tarp, cans, propane tanks, bottles of various cleaning fluids and general junk.

Be sure to watch the video, its pretty epic, even if I do say so myself!

Video shot on Panasonic GH4 @1080p 50fps

Final list of components used :-

Intel i5 6600K
MSI B150M Mortar

I just want to say thanks to the following people/ companies:-

Momma and mini pexon :D
Chris, Steven and everyone @Overclockers (overclockers.co.uk)
Tom @MSI UK   (uk.msi.com/)
Pas and Eddie @Aquatuning UK (https://www.aquatuning.co.uk/)

Hugggge thanks to my friends Tom (video magician) and Ryan for helping out with the set up and lighting and of course, to everyone who has been following the build, thanks for the kind words, comments and suggestions. Its been one hell of a ride!

.... lets go boy

Wow, that's beautiful Pexon. Awesome work, I wish I had the skills to mod PC cases like that.   :thumb:

I can attest to Phanteks build quality, I have an Enthoo Primo as well. Rock solid case, everything is well built. Can't go wrong with it.

Now get to playing Fallout 4, it's pretty amazing (not as amazing as that case and board though!). I've already put 60 hours into it.  :))

Thanks Az! :D

Believe it or not, since last week, I have managed to put 30 hours in already. I have just finished up work and will be jumping on soon. I've been playing a fair bit, after getting some food in the evening, so 30 hours over the last week, is a few hours a night. I'm liking it so far, I did find it was very slow to get into, I've also done a fair bit of tweaking to get it to run nicely and get the FOV sorted out.
