Caseking 10th Anniversary: Golden Keyboard?
« on: Tue, 15 January 2013, 04:33:41 »

https://www.facebook.com/caseking?fref=ts

Caseking, a well known german online shop, is celebrating their 10th anniversary, as it seems with stuff like special offers (10 Cents for a 15€ mousepad :o), contests and exclusive special editions.

The question is what's up with that golden keyboard in the pic, will that be some special edition like the Caseking Anniversary Edition Case they offer atm?
It at least looks pimp.

PS: They sell mechanical keyboards but only the gaming branded ones from Razer, Zowie etc..

It looks like a MKC aluminium case and lasered zinc keycaps to me. I don't see it available on their website though.

Got informed that it's 24K gold (plated I guess :D).
Maybe they will sell it at a later point or you can win it in some contest or so, afaik their whole anniversary thing runs over the whole year.

24k Gold makes for a horrible keycap surface, it would smother in a matter of hours

This doesn't look like a keyboard you would use, it looks like one you would put in a bank vault!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Those are zinc keycaps gold-lated. MKC only made two for that European company and he will never make them again since it's pretty complicated.

Regardless of how it feels to type on, that just looks amazing. Makes me really want a black/gold themed board.

And yay, they have ISO metal caps, finally some ISO love.

I don't think there are ANSI modifiers either, but this is the first time I've seen ISO alphanumericals.
