Cisco selling Linksys to Belkin

I quit buying Linksys due to some of their business practices, so not entirely a big loss, but Belkin?
That just shows how low your product sank.

Don't get me wrong, Belkin can make some things that work, cables, and, um, uh... cables, which are usually the same thing you can buy direct from China at 1/10th what Belkin is asking, but they work. Unlike their routers.

Oops, credit where credit is due, I forgot about the wireless nic from them that worked well, too bad it only worked in Windows, needed a special driver and they stopped supporting it shortly after release.

I'm not exactly a big fan of Belkin as you may have guessed. At this point I think I like them more than D-Link though, which is really saying something about D-Link.

Looks like we are down to Asus, Buffalo, and thoroughly tested Netgears.  Wonderful. I may have to stock up on a few since I can pretty much only get Netgear in stores here.

haha linksys got crappy years ago. belkin isn't a bad choice; the most reliable, long lasting router i ever had was a belkin. trendnet is a decent alternative.

I have yet to use, or even come in contact, with a Belkin that went much more than 2 weeks without requiring a reboot.

Compare that with my Linksys 610N which went 3 years without a reboot (other than some power outages), before it succumbed to a power problem (most likely lightening). This is despite flowing 200+ gigs per month, with spikes up to nearly 500, by broadcasting a webcam, lots of torrents, lots of gaming, and hosting a externally accessible file server and an Android build server. The replacement, a Netgear WNDR4000, is doing okay, but the QOS system could be better.

Beyond that, I refuse to buy a router that cannot run aftermarket firmware, even if I don't use it. After an experience with a D-link that had good hardware, but the absolute worst firmware I have ever seen (uptime measured in minutes), I simply refuse to be stuck like that again, and Belkin rarely supports any aftermarket firmware.
