Help!: Type Heaven or Leopold

Hello everyone, I am looking to buy my first real keyboard and have narrowed it down to these two but can't make a final choice on what to get. Im looking for a keyboard that will primarily be used for gaming but I don't want any of the silly extras like macro keys or backlit (I know how to touch type -_-), other then that general typing and a long loving relationship is what I need. I have been using a wireless ergonomic rubberdome microsoft keyboard for the past 6 years and honestly really do love it, that said I have used some Cherry keyboards and really would like to move up to a respectable board. From the research I have done I think I would like the MX browns most but the MX brown leopold has no ETA on restock so Ive settled on reds if I go that route. I think I will eventually get PBT caps for whatever board I do get. If you want me to answer anything else you think is important just ask.

From how I see it its a high quality Cherry board or an entry point Topre board, what do you think I should pick up and why?

Welcome to Geekhack!

If primarily for gaming - do you really need the numeric keypad?

If not, you can consider TKL (tenkeyless) keyboard which will open up the options a bit, and probably cost less.

For example the CM QFR - an excellent board at a very reasonable price.

Ah yes, I do need the TK. I do a fair amount of data entry for physics experiments and can't imagine attempting to delve into excel without it.

Then it pretty much depends on how much you want to spend, unless you really know you want Topre.

I don't game but I really prefer the topre feel over browns.  YMMV. Have you typed on either?

If you decide to get a Topre Type Heaven also consider getting PBT caps later are expensive. It would be cheaper in the long run to buy a Realforce 104 with PBT caps.

Just get a HHKB Pro 2. This is seriously the best think I have ever typed with thus far.
