Things you love
« on: Tue, 02 September 2014, 10:28:10 »
I figured there are at least two dark, hate, annoyed with, etc. themed threads that seem to get a lot of attention around this off-topic sub; and so, here we have the things you love thread.

What do you enjoy?  What events, places, things, ideas have really got you jazzed for the next 5 minutes?  What about the next 5 years?

I'll start.

I love getting back home, and I loved getting away from it.  I was staying at a home away from home, but it didn't have my man-cave.

Things off the top of my head in general:

- Traveling: I'll be traveling for most of September. Going to Cleveland, Nashville, and New York City.
- Food: I tried grass fed steak for the first time yesterday, it was legendary.
- My career: Lately, things have been looking really good, especially with the promotion :D.
- Binge: He's the man ;)

There's at least two love / happiness topics as well.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Life.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I love my music. I like how a good tune can make you forget your problems just for a moment and how it can take you to its very own world.

I also love grey, cold rainy days.

Also, 3d animation and post production. Sounds weird, but I love it.

Enjoying the last month of summer.  Getting in as much outdoors activity as I can has been awesome.  Surfing, diving, kayaking...anything water-related.  Rock climbing, cycling, whatever.  Feels great just being outside in the sun.  Stress just melts away.

That pic was me on Wednesday past 10 AM. I scared the crap out of two freshman girls I'm friends with. I was out cold to the extent they thought I was dead. I didn't even move when they poked me. Me and the teacher had a talk about how maybe I should try coffee.

You need to try Somersby. I think Canada has the good stuff, but it's made by Carlsberg and for some reason it tastes different in the UK compared to everywhere else in the world. I've had Icelandic, Norwegian and Croatian versions and they are ll the same. Just the UK that is different.

It tastes like Apple Tango. It's amazing...
