Vote on Men's Boots (Massdrop)

The Poll. Considering how crazy expensive good boots can be, I figured I'd start a poll. So yeah, vote

Added Viberg Smokejumpers because I've been looking at those for about 2 years now. Just can't pull the trigger on something so expensive when I already have nice boots :)

I have yet to see something I wanted to purchase from massdrop that would warrant signing up.  I am not a member.  I am interested in seeing what is available with this boot thingamagig.  Please post a guest link.

No one can make you sign up. But obviously, you exhibit some interest in the topic at hand, yet are too lazy to put forth any small amount of effort to view a damn poll.

But, regardless of your laziness, I did all the work for you, in spite of the fact I care zero about this poll or these boots.

https://www.massdrop.com/vote/mens-boots-1?mode=guest_open

It seems that you can't even view polls as a guest. You want to vote/view? Sign up. No? Oh well. Not everyone should make all the effort for you.

so pot kettle black now?
sounds a lot like what someone said about facebook eh?

Idk... I really hate that some sites now demand your information (so they can sell it on it seems) before you can view any content on there site... flickr has started to do it too now...
If I got a chance to see what was on Mass Drop then I'd be more interested in maybe signing up... but as it is I don't even really know what it is...

though that link dosn't work for me... is it a US only service?

It doesn't work as in you don't see the poll or it just doesn't work?

If it's the former, it's because you aren't logged into massdrop to see it.  The latter?  /shrug.  They do things both US and internationally when they can.

All I was saying is the site was set up to not have guests see polls, but you want to be an ass about it, that's fine.

It just sends me to a login/sign up page... but looking at the url it looks like its suppose to be a guest link, so non members could see the page??

No, my post says the link doesn't work. The guest mode links only seem to work for items that are already in the buying process.

My point was that it took me more time to type my post (and this one) than it did to google "massdrop guest mode" and view the link, even having to sign out of my own account to see that it didn't work. And that it would have taken less time to sign up, even with fake information. When I signed up for massdrop, it was with fake information because I wasn't sure what it was, then I changed it all when I found something I wanted to buy.

Fair enough, like I said I don't know much/anything about massdrop and just assumed it was a GB devoted website that forces you to sign up.
So while it seemed fair enough that you couldn't view polls, I could view the items (I assumed there where boots attached to the poll).

But I guess I could also use one of my many alt/throw away email accounts, that's a pretty good idea...

Well, the thing is this: they offer prices that are below MSRP for items, and to do this comes with certain requirements. It's like when Amazon sells something for ridiculously cheap, they can't just post the price. You have to jump through some hoops to see it. That's pretty much what happens with Massdrop. They're not supposed to blatantly show those prices.

ahhh ok... tbh my reasoning for not singing up primarily was because when I've seen people talking about stuff on it, they are talking in terms of $$ so I just assumed it was a US only thing, as sites like MD arn't new and in the past anyway seem to be locked to a region/country... so giving my email address for them to do as they like with for a service I couldn't use seemed like a bad deal...

But your idea of using a 'fake' email seems like a good plan, I'll have to do some investigating!

Well, I will warn you of this: every time I read the discussions on items on massdrop, there is ALWAYS complaints of shipping costs internationally. I'm not certain if the costs are extraordinarily high, or if they're just complaining about the world we live in today, just letting you know.

Cheers for the heads up!

I don't like any of those options.

Though, I generally prefer a lower profile boot like a Viberg (which I want SO HARD) to something more bulbous like a Red Wing or a Doc Marten.

I'm not really a boots kind of guy, to be fair. I spend most of my days wearing Stan Smiths.

Oh damn, those Viberg's are awesome, and with a pretty incredible price to match :)) added. And set the link url as the share url on the vote page so it might work for guests now

Eh, as a guy who wears US 16 boots, I know I'll just be disappointed, whichever boot they go with.

You know what they say about big shoes...

pain in the ass to find your size
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

Maximum truth.

This is how I feel wearing 14. I'm sorry. I bet it's much worse for you. It seems 13 is the cut off, and all the rest of us can die in a feet fire.
I feel like I take my size 11s for granted

I will vote for whatever ones come in a size 13-4E, which is more difficult to find than a 14 and 15 and about on par with a 16.

Finding extra wide shoes is the bane of my social life.  Add on top of that wearing a 14 and I get in on about zero cool shoe things.

Hell I gave up on the "cool shoe" thing YEARS ago.

Showed off a score I got from Zappos (seriously, I recommend them. If any retailer has shoes in your size, THEY do) and someone gave me **** about how they were ugly. Once I explained that at my size, beggars can't be choosers, they shut up.
