Drinking m0re water..
« on: Thu, 19 November 2015, 08:14:34 »
So,  I didn't believe the hype, 8 glasses...

But, gave it a go this week,  (not 8 glasses),  total around 6 (counting the food)..

I've noticed it's made my skin a bit softer,

No other miracles so far..

I can't remember the last time I poured myself a glass of water. I always like to have some sort of taste to my drink. I don't mind grabbing a bottled water but I ran out a long time ago and keep forgetting to restock. :p

I get free 5-gallon bottles from work, yet I only drink 2-3 glasses of straight water a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

Yea...   they say it helps because the modern diet has too much salt and protein and fats.

I drink at least a litre during the day, more during summer.

No idea if that's enough, but I do need to go to the little room more often, especially during winter.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

2+ is probably better.

If I remember both caffeine and alcohol are diuretics and work against you.

Exactly. Coffee is super bad for you really. I used to have like 12 cups a day at work, and would get withdrawal headaches if I didn't have at least 2 a day when I was off.

I still have the habit of drinking 4 - 6 litres a day from back when I used to body build.... Something I should really get back into...

Mind you my body loves me for it. Eventually you develop a bigger bladder for those wondering.

Not quite a desert everywhere here :p

In fact Melbourne is supposed to be cold and wet, or so I kept hearing as I grew up in Adelaide, the driest state on the driest continent.

And after moving to Melbourne there was a 10 year drought and water restrictions

I've never really consumed that much water every day, what I do make an effort to have now is much more than I used to have.

through my many years (35 to be exact) I have witnessed a lot of people/co-workers swear by the whole drink 8 glasses of water a day.

I will admit, never tried it.

One thing i did try is the whole drinking hot water thing.

Rather a cup of tea, i would have a cup of plain hot water with a dash of lemon juice, i noticed that a poop more regular, that i felt generally better all round and that my skin was smoother.

I'd like to commit to drinking more water, but i'm a commitaphobe so its never going to happen.

tl;dr - if you can do it its good for you.

Got a 1 liter water bottle and I drink about 4-5 of them a day, its lovely having clean tap water that does not have a chemical taste to it.

You get used to anything, I lived in Florida for 5 years and eventually even got used to the "sulphur" smell and taste, but when you have good clean soft water out of the tap you are really sensitive when you go somewhere with bad water.

Water filters work wonders, even the cheap ones help a lot. A lot of bottled water is simply filtered city water anyway, from "somewhere else"

Drinking the recommended amount of water always gives me the ****s. I'd rather be dehydrated and not have to squirt miso soup out of my ass every 20 minutes.

Where's the sulfur coming from?

Are you sure it was sulfur?

No, but in Florida that is how everyone refers to the smell of the water.
