1 Geekhack T-shirt (US men's XL or other size possible) to be given away.

Contest rules:

Deadline: 10:00 pm December 24 (I may go to bed early or be hard to reach that night since it will be dinner at my sister's out of town) (and I know that (C)Hanukkah is already over and that is before Kwanzaa begins, but the shirt will probably arrive in time to wear to your New Year's Eve party)

Contest: provide the best advice you can for life, the universe, and everything, in 140 characters (I don't even tweet, but I recognize the logic)

One entry per person, but I will be on holiday and will probably not even read the entries until 12-24 hours after the contest ends, and may not make a decision until the Post Office opens on Monday morning. So post early, edit often, and help everyone out with your acquired knowledge/wisdom/experience.

Since I am not smart enough to make the ultimate decision, I will pick my 10 favorites and the winner will be a random choice from those.

Starter - from the founder of my original martial arts style, Wado Ryu karate - Hironori Otsuka:
"It is more important to know your weaknesses than it is to know your strengths."

PS - Disclosure - this is a backdoor marketing ploy for my T-shirts = $10 + shipping ($12 if printed front and back) with your choice of color for ink and shirt

Do what ever you want to do and don't let anyone stop you. If you believe the universe is infinite, there is a 100% chance you will get a second go at life, take risks while you can.

Way too long. Edit it down to the last 2 lines and you have a good one.

Best advice for universe: 42

Best advice for Earth: the cake is a lie. Go make your own cake. You don't have to fight others for the universe's cake. You can do anything with yours. You could even add sprinkles! What I'm trying to say, is that you don't have to do what everybody else is doing. You have to be creative every once in a while, and go a different path.

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

In most aspects of life, its all just a big game.  Some people are good at playing the game, some people aren't.  The best thing you can do is find the game you are best at and play it for as long as possible.

Winner: ImpendingxDoom

Never dwell on things that are out of your control, but try to be compassionate and understanding for the things you can control.

We got some good entries, but I was hoping that there would be more. I entered edited versions of Bromono's and Azhdar's too-long submissions and used a random number generator to pick the winner from the top entries.

Congratulations ImpendingxDoom!

PM me your mailing address and I will send the shirt out.

Yes, sir!

That's better.  I had lost the original, which is why I changed to something else until I could find it (or, as it turns out, until someone could send me an old copy of it).
