Bump? I would really love to see this happen (although mainly because I want to try a HHKB).

Just kidding, it would be a great time. I wonder what choices we would have for venue?

I am also very interested. Although I'm not so active on Geekhack.

I bet some are really willing for this to happen, but at the same time need more time to work on their boards, so they don't mind the silence :)

@Gongy if you're interested in trying out a HHKB and you happen to be in the North Shore area, you're free to try mine out any time. Send me a pm if you're interested and I'll see if I can arrange something.

@Jersern you are ever so kind, but I caved and already got one. It is the best thing my fingers have ever caressed! Thank you so much for offering your time though. If this meeting goes ahead I hope to see you there.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I've been meaning to make this a thing for quite some time but I've been busy (slacking off). I'm making this post so I'm forced to commit/proceed with the planning stage. There are some new toys coming into the market so I guess that's a good enough reason to bring this up again.

I'm hoping to set a date at the end of the month or early next month. Venue will probably be at The Nerd Cave, right next to Central station. https://www.facebook.com/the.nerd.cave.au/

If the venue will allow it, I might run a soldering workshop. I might be able to give away a few things out as well (from MechKB and probably my own stuff if my bosses aren't feeling particularly generous).

It looks like the meet will probably end up being set to the 3rd of September. I'll confirm time and dates tonight in case there's any other possible attendees who've yet to vote.

Are any of you guys interested in getting anything from Decent Keyboards? They made the custom dye-sub caps for the Tokyo Meetup. I'll be getting a bunch made for the meetup so y'all are welcome to add to the order and get a free ride from the international shipping I'm paying for. Anyone who isn't attending (busy, interstate, etc) will just have to pay for their order and domestic shipping.

I asked you on reddit.. going to see if I can't get more concrete details here, again. Need to have at least a few weeks notice if its going to be a successful event.
