WT60-D Weirdflex PCB

So NK has this weirdflex pcb on their site where it's got two long slots cut into the PCB on either side of the alpha block. Apparently has so much flex in it when built sans plate or half plate that it's advisable to add foam to control the amount of flex.

I am so intrigued but I have enough project PCBs laying around me right now so I'm not picking it up but I'm wondering if anyone here has used one and what their thoughts were. I can't seem to find a review of it on youtube which kind of makes me want to buy it, build it, and send it to Thomas/Chyrosan88 to have him do a review.

So, anyone use it? Would you recommend?

Ok basically it will be very flexible pcb. .. . I tried thin pcb vs thick pcb, it makes different noises and different feel as well. 1.2 mm is more flexible vs 1.6mm

You didn't say whether you liked it or whether you'd recommend. Only told me it was more flexible because it was thinner lol

Yeah I liked it, only thing is it's kinda expensive, if you can I would make your own plainflex from jlcpcb

Sure I'd recommend if it's avail.  but again everything in this hobby is preference , you might like stiff pcb or you might like  thinner ~~

If flex is what you're after the weird flex PCBs would be the way to go IME. I am typing on one right now that is setup in a half plate build in my Sirius. It flexs enough to hit off the bottom of the case if pressed a little harder than typing pressure. As far as recommending it goes, I definitely would as long as you are using it plateless or half plate. You'd probably get some extra flex on a full plate if the material is something like polycarb or POM, but I wouldn't pay the extra price for one of these to use in a full plate build TBH.

ps. I'm a light touch typer. If I was heavy handed, I wouldn't think of it but the idea is fun for a side project.

FILCO reported the cause of solder crack is bent of their PCB. And they have updated to use harder PCB to avoid such problem.

It's really hard to make a flexible PCB that you solder all over.  They usually divide up the pcb into sections where the part that needs to bend has nothing soldered so that joints won't crack.
