The problem isn't Lots of people. The problem is Lots of people all simultaneously engaged in Destructive Habits.

The solution to the problem simply can not be to have "less people".

People, Labor, is the most efficient form of energy use we have. A 100watt human can do alot of work. a 100watt robot will do f'k all.


Getting over this "hump" in the collapse, just to maintain infrastructure, food supply, logistics, is going to require an enormous amount of EFFICIENT labor (slavery with dignity), in the form of muscle power, because the external ENERGY Won't BE THERE.

There's an emission limit, at some point, you can't emit any more, or it's instant death. 500ppm, that's it.  At that point, we can choose muscle power, or we gasoline for another 50 or so years, and drop dead.


WHAT does muscle power look like.  Indian Slums.  That's pretty much the only survivable outcome for 99% of humanity, is to learn how to live on approximately 1/20th the energy.

The average american lifestyle is 10,000 watt per hour, after calculating for fossil in the whole chain.

Mankind is today 19 Terawatts. The only real future absent (A MIRACLE) pegs us at 2-5.

This just shows how disconnected we are with "Reality"

What does a 10,000watt per person metabolism of the American lifestyle mean. It means there's 250x people (in energy) behind your every conveniance.

In books they call it, the 250x energy slaves. It takes a small town to sponsor our individual lifestyle, that we take for granted.

The point is,  WHEN, not IF... WHEN that goes away,  your life as you know it, full of leisure, don't have to work very much, you can just drive there and back, air conditioning, supermarkets full of food, refrigeration, the oven, the lawnmower, the cloth dryer.  ALL OF THAT,  Goes-Away.

1 Billion people would never be enough to even maintain all the roads.  Every industry would collapse, modern civil order dissolved. We're back to barter and peasantry.


Why isn't this obivious, because we're super lucky, and we're simply born into it. The old people barely remember a NON 19 Terawatt society, and Most people don't remember at all..

The average Japanese farmer is 70.  Europe, 60, America 60. It's not a mystery, this is a major discussion in farming, that farmers are rapidly disappearing.

More/less, we've got 1 guy farming 1,400 acres.

HOW you might ask? Lots and lots of fossil-fuel (energy slaves).


If you had to grow your own food, WITH animal for tilling, at best you're doing 3-5 people worth of food.  THEN, you have 9 kids, because half of them die, and all those kids work the land from the day they're weened..

Not long ago, Tp4 was touring a salt drying operation, the worker's daughter 3 or 5, can't tell, they're small, had her baby sibling tied in a carrier on her back. She was playing on the ground with some sticks. Babysitting, while the parents worked.

So, how are you going to DE-Populate with a guaranteed-inevitable "Shrinking energy supply".

It appears as if my internship/"job training" isn't going to lead to an employment at the place I work. To do that they require government compensation for hiring a disabled person -- and I'm not a disabled person. I have never once claimed to be a disabled person.
I've spent over a whole year in this program that I didn't ask for —what has effectively been slavery — and now it won't even amount to anything.
It has been extended behind my back over and over again, despite my pleas to get out.
I've been stressed out the whole effing time, both over stress at work and stress and anxiety over not having control over my situation.
I have filed complaints about it at numerous occasions that have been unanswered, because I have been devalued and demeaned. I am not retarded, I am angry over this abuse.

BTW. Back in 1972, the US had tried to sabotage a summit on the environment and climate change in Stockholm. I've met a couple of old-timers in the local climate movement who had been present.
First, the US had pushed the angle that the world's overpopulation was the primary problem, in an attempt to shifti focus away from the fossil fuel industry and the US life-style.
And, they had sent a plane-load of drugged-up hippies in an attempt to divert attention away from the issues and to smear the event as something fringe.

The US almost signed a climate treaty back during the George Bush presidency (the elder, not the dubya). Then he got a call from one of his pals in the oil industry.

I agree. I don't answer calls from people I don't know, especially out of town, but if no message is left I assume that it was spam and feel glad that I didn't answer it.

Spam is a problem, but the bigger problem is now that with capitalist surveillance systems, they can SCREEN precisely who you're in contact with, and to a degree, "regulate" your interactions, simply by delaying, manipulation of the timing of the communique.

We have less to worry about spam than we do the fact that our access to the human collective is heavily gated and monetized.

That is literally the option. Adoption, being put down, or neuter and release (which is actually more expensive than kenneling for a few months.) If you've ever been to a 3rd world country you see wild domesticated animals are a big issue. I got attacked multiple times by packs of stray dogs when in India, they are straight up bullies, and their population is unchecked because there are no programs in place for neutering/releasing, or capture.

Adopt an older animal if you can, they will repay you in love ten-fold.
