Any 1 know how do Basement Pipes ?

So,

Tp4 bought des' PVC pipes and PVC joint-fittings

Only to find out the older pipe is ABS (cellular core) cheapo pipes..

Now, Internet says haz to use _Transition Cement_



The PVC glue has a primer+cement portion for plastic welding.


So, if I use the pvc-fitting  on one end with PVC pipe, and the OTHER end to old ABS pipe,   Do I NOT prime the other side of the fitting where it connects the ABS ?

I think that you need the "transition" cement:

Also, you didn't say whether these were supply or waste pipes. Joints in supply lines are critical, waste lines less so.

I wouldn't PVC weld ABS..

The only experience I have with PVC piping is some six months of installing HVAC systems. PVC welding ABS seems like a bad idea. #twocents

They're fixed..

Now to pray for 5 hours while the glue cures..

What direction do i face for plumbing god.

Tested the transition cement on the outside of both abs and pvc pipe,  it was melting into both.. So I asssume that it should weld the 2 together..

If you plan to stay there 15 more years. Put in all PVC Sched 40/80. Supply all Red copper or Pex. Does not sound DIY for you TP. Just figure the home is only 2,500 SF. Looking at 40 grand.


Wait until there is a leak and you don't know it Buddy. Maybe 40 grand anyways.
