Found this doing my normal u2711/zr27/Cinema 27 search on eBay... when I found it this afternoon there were 8 left and I messaged him to see if they still are in warranty or if there's any damage...hasn't responded but then I saw it dropped down to only 5 left.

I bought one.  Can't beat it at that price.  I've owned two of these in the past, and for gaming they have the lowest input lag times of the 27's available.  I've owned a Catleap, u2711, zr2740w.  I've been looking to get another Catleap, but prices are rising and the cheapest isn't even the model I want...so I was trying to find a u2711 again for Catleap prices but that takes a long time, and I figured I can't pass on this.

That is an amazing price.  Doing my best to not pull the trigger.  Pretty tempting.

If I weren't looking into a smaller case to bring my pc into my living room to play on my 60" tv, I'd be all over this.

Is that contrast ratio of 1000:1 significant, or is that an irrelevant statistic being an IPS monitor (like polling rates for keyboards)? Also 14ms GTG seems slow compared to what I have now (2ms, 50m:1 22" LCD).

Been eyeing these monitor threads, so merely curious.

contrast is normal and 14ms is about average for lower end IPS panels

Just letting ya'll know, this is the new LED versions, that has lower color gamut than CCFL originals, which cost more to make.

I just want to say thanks for the link!  I got two of these for a dual monitor setup, and I have to say they are pretty bad a-word.  The only complaint I have is that I have one dead pixel right in the middle on one of them, but I have so much screen real estate that I barely notice, and for the price I can't really complain.

I recently bought that panel and I paid twice as much

(if you want to get one, check production year >2011)

Agreed.  If I paid full retail on one of these, I might be a bit upset about the coating.  However, considering the price and that I don't have OCD, I am willing to deal with the minor annoyance of the coating and one dead pixel between two of these monitors.  These ones were made in 2011.  It is noticeable if you look for it, but it isn't as bad as online reviews make it out to be.  I might not have even noticed if I wasn't looking for it.  From 2012 and up they lightened up on the screen coating, but unfortunately they kept the same exact model number so there isn't really any way to know what you are getting.  Kind of like the CM Storm with the excessive and annoying branding, you won't know which one you're getting unless you go to a brick and mortar or they eventually run out of stock of the old models.

Okay so stepping in with my monitor knowledge of doom here. Also as an HP display guru and fan.

First of all, TFTCentral has some bad numbers - specifically the input latency. The ZR2440w and ZR2740w have updated versions of the ZR24w controller. What that means is it's not 20ms - it's 10ms. (They may have had an early firmware. I've confirmed this number with HP Professional Display engineers. It's 10ms.)

Second, the ZR family is exclusively CLASS 1 displays. This matters a great deal, and is why the MSRP is excruciatingly high. They are covered by a separate and distinct Class 1 Display policy. You can find that display here. And yes, this does mean what you think it does - all ZR family displays have a zero-full-pixel defect policy, no exceptions, no questions asked. There is also a zero bright (colored rather than black) pixel policy. Also, these are BUSINESS warranty covered - meaning 3 year next-day onsite.

Personally, I recommend the hell out of the ZR24w. It's >94% sRGB calibrated - I run three of 'em. The ZR2440w hasn't thrilled me, because I use the VGA inputs in parallel with 24-pin DVI-D and DisplayPort - the ZR2440w deletes the VGA input. However, it is the exact same panel as the ZR24w. Any LED backlit display is harder to calibrate due to the nature of LEDs themselves, but provided LEDs are correctly positioned, sized, and manufactured will give results on par with CCFL without the typical CCFL fade.

Have no fear though. Amazon has the ZR2440w for $364 and if that's not enough monitor for you, there's always the HP LP2480zx DreamColor 12-bit at just $2200.

I have this monitor and love it! I bought it for $672 on Amazon a little over a year ago. The anti-glare coating was the a little heavy, but I quickly got used to it, doesn't bother me at all.
I prefer it over the glossy 27" imacs we have at work. I think the colors are more accurate too.

Does the 'Le' in the Amazon listing designate some difference to ones that don't have 'Le'?  Not to mention 'Promo'... is this light on warranty or something else?

LOL, I wonder if they would warranty my ebay special with the one dead pixel.  When I get some time I might try to check.  I was okay with having one dead pixel out of two of these monitors for the price I paid, but that would be totally bad a-word if they fix it.

Actually, yes, they will.  The display carries the warranty, not the owner.

How do I know?  Mine also happened to come with one dead pixel...I don't know if that's merely coincidence or not, but I'm not upset because the eBay'er promptly offered a full refund or even to give some money back and let me keep it.

However, I looked up warranty and mine carries another ~2 years.  Called HP, they said no problem, BUT some weird stuff was up with the serial they said so I needed to get the original invoice from the original purchase, which luckily enough the eBay'er faxed over for me.

My ZR has two stuck pixels.  That doesn't qualify for a replacement.  The pixels have to be fullbright, then a single pixel will qualify for replacement.  If they are just dead, I believe more than three are required.
