NBA - National Basketball Association
« on: Sat, 09 February 2013, 13:15:20 »
Any fan of basketball, or NBA around here? I don't see much sports lovers around in GH, so I opened this thread to find out if there are any. Would really love to have some discussions about the players and the league!

Do you play basketball? Who is your favorite player and your favorite team?

I started playing basketball when I was around 12-13, and pretty much molded my game around my favorite player, Dwyane Wade, until today, I still think he's the best player out there, with so much skill and athleticism, and he's so humble and kind. My favorite team will be without a doubt, the Miami Heat. I have been following them ever since the Dwyane Wade era, which was back to around 2003-2004. No matter what everyone say about how good LeBron is, or how Dwyane Wade came to be his sidekick, but Wade in my mind is the best player and the captain of the Heat.

My most hated player will be Ron Artest, or whatever **** peace his name is.

What about you?

Started watching in like 2010 maybe? I always watched it casually but my roommate really got me into it. My favorite team is the Denver Nuggets.

I got to see Lebron stomp the nets in like 2011 and I went to see a Bulls vs Cavs game this year. I live pretty close to Indianapolis so I want to see a few Pacers games before the seasons out  :D

Ah! That's one of the reason I want to live in the US.. so I get to watch Dwyane Wade play live!

Lakers fan since forever, even when they suck ass. Like now. And way back when Cedric Ceballos was their best player. And also not so far back when Smush Parker was their point guard.

I'll be watching the Lakers lose to the Clippers tonight! Yup.

Knicks fan since I was born.

I, however, did root for the Heat at the end of last year because Lebron is amazingly fun to watch and I just wanted him to get his damn ring so I didn't have to hear it anymore.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

I'm not quite sure if it's okay or not to pull this 'old' thread up.
But I was curious as today is the Opening Night if any "fans" are watching and are surprised the Bulls are behind with almost 20 points. :)

So actually I want to refresh this topic, so it maybe gets more lively and as the season started it could be easier to find something to talk about.

If this is some violation, maybe a mod can close this and I will open up a new thread? Since this is still on first page I thought it's easier that way.

I don't play personally, as I'm much more coordinated with my fingers than my throwing ability, but my brother has always been a big fan, his favorite team being the Thunder and mine being the Spurs, representing Texas for sure.

Also not a fan of LeBron at all. Sports was never about grandstanding to me.

LeBron is awesome. He's so modest, despite being the greatest NBA player on the planet. He just won two rings in a row, let him shine a little.

Well, as of right now they do not matter that much :D Kobe-less Lakers played them real good.

LeBron is awesome. He's so modest, despite being the greatest NBA player on the planet. He just won two rings in a row, let him shine a little.

I see it the same way, people are giving him just too much of a hard time. I think he learned from his mistakes and tried to redeem oneself by playing outstandingly. I guess people should start to empty their hate and try to look at it basketball-wise, that he really is the most complete player I've seen right now in the league.
Oh and go Heat :)

I just hope when he comes back that this won't disturb the flow the Lakers have right now. Because I bet nobody thought that Lakers Starting 5 and the bench could contribute so well ^^ Especially as last season the bench wasn't that good contributingly-wise.

Keyboards and basketball - the two great joys in life. I've wanted a P1 Purple blank CC for months now, but this desire was even further magnified when I recently saw a picture of sth's HHKB:

I'm a Laker fan entering my 11th year.. which means yes, I bandwagoned when they got Malone and Payton, then had to endure a few years of mediocrity afterwards until they paired Kobe with Gasol. This year I don't think they'll be as bad as everyone says they'll be. Things were definitely looking up the first game when they beat down on the Clips, but the past two games were awful. Last night's game was particularly pathetic - too many jumpshots, and a lot of them were too quick.

But I don't really let my fandom get in the way of just enjoying the game. There are a whole lot of special players and teams right now - LeBron, Kobe, Duncan and all of the Spurs, Durant, Chris Paul, and now Rose is back, and the list goes on. My worry is that whenever the NBA season starts again, my general productivity goes way down.

Everyone did, haha, but I suppose everyone also hopped off right after. I was an impressionable kid (not even a teen at that point) growing up in LA, lots of Laker fan friends, entirely new to the sports world then.. who wouldn't jump on at the sight of some washed-up superstars banding together? I did just end up liking and sticking with the purple and gold even after that, my youth probably a big reason for that kind of loyalty. Not ashamed of my story.

I liked the Lakers since I was a kid back when they started winning (I was like 8, and I guess I joined the bandwagon).  I did not really follow much NBA when the above said ballhogger was super immature, but I did follow NBA again when they traded small hands, Kwame Brown.

I played basketball since I was a kid at about 6.  I was not good enough for the school's team, but later I was invited to join an Asian team haha.  I've gotten a lot better since, and I play in an adult league now although I am currently out of shape.

Damn that Kwame Brown, this was one fabolous pick! Dayum he's so good and well-payed :D

I think a lot of the fans started with "hopping on the bandwagon" but still we sticked to the game and are loving it so far :)
I guess the most bandwagon hoppers were in the Jordan era as he was so popular, especially when Space Jam came out. Damn it was so good looking this flick again some weeks ago. I would recommend to watch this again, just for your child inside of every one of you.  :thumb:

He's helluva great player, one of the best currently. I was pretty shocked when he announced that he will go back to Cleveland. But his SI.com essay is good to see his points why he is coming back. Seems he really matured over time in Miami and hopefully right now he will make a championship team out of the Cavs with his championship caliber and experience.

I've always felt basketball is overly dramatic...

They're all so tall, that they can just reach up, barely jump, and put the ball into the hoop..

Task accomplished...   all that hopping around is just fo-show..
