You can tell by the position numbers

There are  typically only a few thousand advanced typing tests in the last 24 hours rather than the hundreds of thousands you see on the standard test

THis is how they train you on piano,  you have to go slow so that you're not rushing the timing..

Every motion has to be Fast, but purposeful and refined.

My theory is that by typing "as fast" as possible,  the action saturates the synpase space with neurotransmitters, thereby overloading the connection, creating greater latency and throttles the total available bandwidth.

I do slow training but not as often as I should. Slowed down and focusing on technique gets me around 140 wpm I think on 10ff. Slowest I can go without feeling uncomfortable anyway.

I should try this, I'm just under 60 wpm but I'm using all my fingers now, maybe one day with enough practice I'll make it above 120

Sounds like a hack. Fastest WPM in English is 212.

212 wpm is single character input..  which is 5x212 / m  Character per minute 1060

chorded is even higher..  because with the same 1060 CPM , you can represent more words..

but the max raw input speed is probably around 1000 / min,

ALSO, you guys need to remember,, that is only "transcription speed" ,, 



But,, of course, there's gonna be some Indian kid out there who's capable of 10,000 cpm,  alas, he's a chaiwala, and didn't get the chance to go on who wants to be a milionaire, so he won't have the funds to buy a computer..

Good progress..  Try typing SLOWLY, even if you can go faster..  FEEL every key don't rush

I can't brag about my speed but I have made significant progress in a year. I started by teaching myself how to touch type and I was at a 15-25 wpm average, around month 5 I was 45-55wpm, month 7 65wmp, and now I can easily type 75-85wmp.

I also probably have more races than all of you  )
