I've recently started working on my typing speed (which is awful by the way), and I'd love to see where other people are at.

My best is at 110, with an average of 100.

3 months ago before I got sucked into this hobby, I was at 60-70.

Wow, you guys are all better than me  I switched to Dovark a couple months ago, so I used to be not too bad, but it's taken a lot to work back up, and I haven't been practicing as much as I should. I'm currently around 60ish, but still working on it.

Also,  the layout has very little influence on speed as long as you're hitting the keys (ergonomically correct), speed comes from building m0re muscle memory.

No idea what my (touch) typing speed is these days, but I'm definitely slower than the guy who recently posted saying that he could hit 90 wpm with two fingers.

I'm consistently above 90wpm now, after hovering in the 80s for a while. My peak speed is 99wpm, which disappoints me greatly

Lol, I can get around 80-90, but I really need to practice better form. With my sore thumb, which stemmed from ****ty form while I was typing with my ungodly harsh Infinity in a prone position (durrr), I really can't type all that fast. It's interesting using my left thumb for the space bar now. I can touch type, ie, not look at the keyboard, but my form is still a bit whack.

good shiet that thread. I actually got two things i need to think about more often. space on right thumb and actually not lifting your fingers from the homerow but rather slide over the keyboard.

One question though, ill write it here because i dont want to necro the old thread. The "b" button, whats your take on that? should it be pressed by lefty or righty?

Whatever flows best with the word you're trying to type. Like TP says, it's about muscle memory, so whichever finger is in the best position at that point of the word should be used for it.

When/if my thumb ever heals up, I'm so going to practice getting my speed up. Whenever I hear people typing at 115 WPM + it's always so insane. Like, it sounds terrible because it's just a fluttery cacophony of clack, but... that's a beautiful terror I want to reach.
