That is pretty harsh. My worst monitor (that I used for about 5 years before upgrading last October) was 1400 x 900. It wasn't bad until I compared it to a nice monitor.  :))

I'm using 1920 x 108o and it feels like more and more poeple are doing 4k and triple monitors. I would be bold to say that 1920 x 1080 is small compared to most.

i would rather go from 60Hz to 144Hz than from 1080p to 1600p or something

I use the low resolution of 1080p at 144hz (at least I have multiple monitors). My 980 hates me.

1920x1200 on my main computer at home, 1440x900 on my gaming PC (which is barely powerful enough to drive that resolution).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

There are lots of people with poor eye sight out there who have no benefit of any resolution higher than 96 PPI.
If you have good eye sight then you should use at least 100 PPI.

I have had a co-worker who was only 40 years old but his eye sight was poor. He used a 27" screen at 1920×1080, which is 82 PPI. For me with normal eye sight, the size of the text was almost comical.

The physical size of the screen is a question of how much space you have, and how much space you need.
I feel that I can get by more easily using Linux and virtual desktops than in Windows with only one desktop.

I do however sometimes lower the resolution for games - to get a better frame rate. My current system is too underpowered for even four-year old games.

After a few years of “retina”, anything under about 180 dpi now looks like crap.

i have a 27 at work. 1080p. i like it but its kinda annoying having to turn your head to see stuff on the other side of the screen. maybe i should get a smaller monitor. my other 22 next to it is turned vertical for my emailz.

3840x1080 (Dual Monitors). Really would love to snag an Ultrawide or 4K in the future.

I can't imagine going back to anything smaller, feels too cramped.

Not I. 2560x1440 @ 27" for a few years now with an older crossover ips, and more recently, my XB271HU to get 144hz and G-Sync.

Probably the biggest thing that people forget is that an increase in resolution means re-adjusting your mouse settings.

I'm using 1920 x 108o and it feels like more and more poeple are doing 4k and triple monitors. I would be bold to say that 1920 x 1080 is small compared to most.

i would rather go from 60Hz to 144Hz than from 1080p to 1600p or something

I recently went to 2560x1440 on a 27in....but that's probably low res now

It's still one of the highest pixel densities out there (PPI = Pixels per inch), and, imo, still the sweet spot today for someone who mixes gaming and productivity - if you can afford it with a higher refresh rate and gsync/freesync, all the better.

My work setup is a bizarre triple head of 1024x1280, 1440x900, 1280x1024 - depending whether I need width, height or a compromise I move things around as none of them are big enough :-\

TP may have done a typo there. 54 1024x768monitors in a 6x9 array is very impressive.

I grew up with a Portable PC with monochrome display actually, but it was also capable of colour graphics, which I found out later when I got a colour monitor. I was shocked to see colours on a computer, what is this magic?!
