Trenzafeeds, what are the aspects of communism that you are drawn to and do you think that it's possible to transition to it from capitalism without a violent, or at least a forced revolution?

If it isn't appropriate to ask about the mechanics of communism in this thread, I will withdraw the question.

Communism barely even exists anymore, what's this American fascination with an ideology that hasn't existed for twenty years? :P

Tell that to the North Koreans.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Well, to be fair, a LOT of Americans don't actually know what Communism actually is, and the far-right often paints Socialism and Communism as being the exact same thing.  I mean, I regularly hear clients at work tell me about how Obama is a filthy Communist, whereas most places in this world Obama would probably fall on the right or middle end of the political spectrum but nowhere near the "real" Communists.

Communism is dead as a doornail, the only places that are still somewhat communist are Cuba and North Korea and that's really about it xD .

I also don't see what all the hate against communism is about, it would be a fantastic system if it didn't inevitably lead to dictatorship.
