I've raged already... gimme a mouse and kb already ffs.

Anywayz... not great not bad. Has that old feel but... controls react not quickly enough like ut2k4.

Graphics meh. Nothing special. Textures up close not crisp and clear.

Btw.. dat music really sounds like wolfenstein the new order / old blood. Basically like they took the tracks and scrambled them a bit. Probably coz both games come from bethesda.

Besides dying a lot, I think weapons could reload slightly faster. A bit annoying.

EDIT: And maps are so small..

Guns are unbalanced. Shotgun deals very much damage, but that lightning thing and light assault deals almost no damage.

Lightning gun seems to be a support role weapon..

From what I've seen, If you're playing with a buddy, and he's behind you..

The lightning gun is good for weakening the enemy, and all you would have to do is hit him once with the rocket once weakened while playing with your buddy,  whereas, it's hard to support from behind with a rocket..

That's the thing. I hate support roles. in team arena did you also get points for kill assists? I thought in q3 team arena it was just how many your team killed vs how many the other team killed. But perhaps I remember q3 team arena wrong.

What you think of dem graphics tp? Great graphics or average?

Graphics is a mess at this point on the PC,  the advance menu is locked..

But I think there will be some obvious divergence among settings here..

If I eat enough ramen to afford the purchase price of this game,  I would run it at minimum visuals @ 1280x800..

Alas, My gpu can't handle it at my native resolution..

Played it a bit this afternoon, it's alright for a beta. Interested to see how much they change before release given the feedback they're received.

They game is dying for a weapon rebalance and inclusion of strafe jumping. Would be pretty great with some tweaks and better maps. It's unfortunately how they seemed to make a super-reserved, behind-the-times Quake 5.

Fortunately Quake Live is still pretty great, and UT4

I've recently been told that this "problem" is called "gear acquisition syndrome" (not really a syndrome of course).

I've managed to not buy any new PC (hardware) since October 2010 (except for my home server). How's that for control?

But my late 2010 MacBook Pro is really aging now. Can barely run lightroom smooth. Or 1080p 60ps on YouTube for that matter.

I'm saving up to buy myself a sick rig somewhere Q3-Q4 this year.

The hate this game receives on steam is unimaginable:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/350470/

I don't know it's 100% warranted, but this is a really fairly poor game from my limited experience. Hopefully the single player stuff is all right. Otherwise, at this point, it's going to be a complete pass for me. I just fired it up again to give it another chance, but it's just not fun.

Either they need to make the single player stuff amazing or they need to throw some old-school options at multiplayer. Progression, loadouts, monster bull****... blech. It's not fun. Oh, and the maps are really, really stingy on space. And the jumping **** is... well, ****.

the leveling doesn't affect gameplay much..

the loadouts, um... for Team Play , I think loadouts are more appropriate than picking up weapons..

They still have pickups, but only for the demon spawn, and super weapon.

hahah.. I thnk it's only in the game to deal with the revenant..

The revenent will easily rack up at least 3 kills, so they put in the gauss cannon to balance that..

IMHO i still think the demon spawn is more powerful than the gauss cannon..

I always really liked memorizing maps for power ups, guns, etc. And that led to a natural power struggle, which made competition engaging. I find that this, like CoD, devolves quickly to just running/gunning, which I find to be really tedious and not too fun.

The lag has been HORRENDOUS. The game runs poorly on decent hardware. It looks ****ty, which is weird for an id game. The leveling system is derivative of every other shooter in the last six or seven years. The kill move stuff was novel at first and then went quickly stupid. I simultaneously exploded a guy while he kill moved me, resulting in a bugged out sequence where I didn't get attributed with a kill.

Anyway, it's just ramshackle. It feels wrong is the best way to put it. They put a new coat of paint on a product that's already on the market and branded it as Doom when it's clearly not.

CSGO must be slower than the only real true CS, which is 1.6 of course. That felt relatively fast paced. Not as fast as Q3.. but I guess no single game is as fast paced as Quake was.

I must say, of all things, I didn't experience any lag on my PS4. And the game only crashed twice. Played it for 6 hours approximately this weekend.

Playing on my PC, and even though my graphics card is somewhat outdated at this point (GTX 760), the game played rather well and looked quite good. Definitely feels like a mashup of DOOM and Call of Duty. Not a huge fan of the loadouts myself, but I got used to them somewhat quick. Ended up playing about 15-20 matches so far, and I had a blast honestly. Could definitely see myself picking this up when it releases. Matchmaking seemed to be hit or miss (could just be the beta), sometimes I'd find a game instantly, other times it would just clock on 'Connecting' and never seemed to connect.

money says there will be a classic doom mod where you dont have to have loadouts. if they allow mods which they should in the spirit of the old school doom stuffs. but we'll see. wait maybe that was quake.. shrug either way. need all the weapon slots.

I was hoping for a serious FPS. But no.. crying ensues.

I miss the days of hardcore gaming. CSGO seems the only viable option now.

Honestly I'm not a fan of the new UT, it looks a little weird, and it's UT so I'll stick to Quakeworld sry I can't let go of the past.

Oh wait, this is the new Doom multiplayer?

Hey at least single player looks fun r-right?

Ahh... I'll have to try it out either way  :p
