The Dangers of CRT

So, all peeps know that , CRTs emit ~some XRAY.

There is a consumer specification designed to limit CRT voltages, such that it meets the guideline for Non-Hazardous.

However, Professional Industrial equipment were often exempt from such regulation.

This happened to be the case for station broadcast cameras (Back in the day) that had Tiny  CRT-based viewfinders.

These miniturized tubes were exempt and untested for x-ray emission guidelines. They were also Extremely CLOSE to the user,  whereas CRT home TVs were usually at least a few feet off.

The Camera techs who worked these may be behind the viewfinder for 8hrs a day.

MANY of whom ended up with Brain Cancer and died mid-fourties.

MANY broadcast room techs who sat in front of Pro-Monitors often also developed early cancer.

Tp, Why u tell us this.. They don't even make CRT viewfinders no more.

Tp4 tells youses,  because Consumers are ALWAYS the Last-To-Know.    When they tell you Cellphone radiation is safe,  Wifi is Safe, Benzene in Gasoline is Safe, Cheese is Safe, Red-Meat is Safe.

Do consult more sources before deciding to consume vast quantities of such Safe-Things.

When I was about 13 or 14 I found a tv in an alley way and went to town tossing it around and busting it up real good. Looking at the spaghetti inside I noticed an oblong glass tube behind the screen that was glowing with an ethereally blue light. Being a kid I was curious and touched it ever so slightly with my finger, upon which it immediately shattered and gave me an incredible shock. So much so that while I sat there staring at my bleeding hand after being knocked down I actually couldn't move for about minute. Never been electrocuted with quite such an intensity since, even a taser gun couldn't compare.

Phillip Morris knows best.  They used to advertise the fact that Milk correlates higher for lung cancer than cigarette smoke.  They've stopped promoting that fact after they bought Kraft Foods which make the kraft singles slice cheese.

Milk/ animal products are highly carcinogenic in general

If you ever have to choose between CS exposure or OC spray, take the CS.

long story short: I bought a police taser and tased myself in the inner thigh, then later had my buddy shoot me with the prongs. not so bad.
