New keyboard for silent office

Hello everyone,

So I have an AUKEY blue keys on my office, I like it, my first mechanical keyboard, and now I hate to write on my laptop. so I'm thinking about switching keyboard because it is a little bit loud for my office, I was thinking about cherry MX silent red's, however I can't seem to find a decent keyboard (no need to be top of the line model, just some sturdy good one) at my limit budget. I have 100€ to spend on my keyboard, that's my definitive maximum. Can you guys help me? Or should I just try to find another keyboard but with silent switches? (if there's other super silent switches I should be looking for I would appreciate any tips, I only tried blue ones)

Topre Type Heaven? I use one at work. The noise level is on par with the usual rubber dome keyboards (well, because it is a rubber dome…).

I’ve never used silenced cherry, but I’ve read reviews saying it’s not much of a difference in terms of noise level.

Scissors,  or those REALLY cheap $5 rubber domes.   The caps are so thin and light, they pick up very little momentum which is the primary cause of the noise.  They use membrane sheets that are super thin as well, ~25-30g ,   IMHO the switch feel is superior to Topre.. and oh it's $5

Type Heavens are markedly inferior to regular Realforce boards, and aren't silenced either. Silenced Topre is probably out of your price range (by a factor of 2.5 or more..). The MX Silent switches are quite nice, but you'll have to pay an upcharge as they mostly come on 'gamer' boards. If you don't mind the feeling, you could also just get some foam padding + o-rings to significantly reduce the volume.

That means a cheap chinese knock-ff but these are usually quite noisy and rattly.

If you only have around 100 euros to spend on a keyboard, then I'm afraid your options are quite limited.
Hunt around for a while and see if you can get a used MX Silent Red board.
Topre is completely out of the question at that price point (unless you get extremely lucky), and Chinese clone keyboards are rather infamous for being ear-shatteringly loud. If you can't get a board with Silent Reds, then you're just gonna have to tough it up and use a bog-standard rubber dome. You have my condolences if it ever gets to that point, though.

I also recommend the Leopold FC750 since it can come with silent switches and is about at your budget.

But if you order from a US site, the shipping and duties will put you over your budget. Perhaps there's an EU vendor or buy used.

You could also look for a Cherry G80-3494 with silent red or black switches, if you don't mind something with that big-bezeled retro look.  Those ought to be common enough in Europe, and I would think that you could get one within your budget.  The keycaps aren't the world's greatest, but they're much better than what comes stock on most mechanical keyboards.

I don't think a stock Topre Type Heaven is quiet at all, and would be quite a bit louder than any other keyboard in the office.  I took mine home until I could put silencing rings in it.  The supply of Type Heavens also seems to have dried up.  I haven't even seen one on eBay in a while.  A stock Realforce is a little quieter than a Type Heaven, even the unsilenced versions, but those are way out of a 100 Euro price range, unless you could find one used.

You could find a cheap vintage blacks board on Ebay - this is how the majority of users acquire vintage boards. Vintage blacks lubed can make a great typing experience for work.

Any OEM with MX silent switches will do the job of being silent in a work environment.

If you want quiet MX, go to KBDFans and order 90 Aliaz 70 G switches. Get a GMMK TKL during their upcoming Black Friday sale. Total cost ~$105 Euros.

I have actually tried this out, it is quieter than standard MX switches. You can even mod the GMMK for further quietness.

I prefer Topre for work since the sound profile flies under the radar (doesn't make too distinct/obnoxious of a sound). Even a relatively quiet mech board will draw attention as they sound different.

45g Topre is also my favorite switch for using for extended periods.

Even unsilenced Topre is pretty darn quiet compared to my MX boards.  And my low-noise FC660C is extremely quiet.  I would think that plate-mounted and silenced Topre would be one of the best choices for quiet use in an office setting.

For me: 
55g Topre induces fatigue after an hour or two of high-volume typing.  But the tactility is most satisfying...
45g Topre is much more effortless to use, and I type for several hours without feeling fatigued.  The tactility is not quite as satisfying as the 55g, but it's still very good (and much more satisfying than any MX switch I've tried).

I don't even like Topre all that much and I'm offended by that statement.

Variable is even easier on the hands...Great if you're doing a fair bit of typing...Of course if you're not using "correct" form I wouldn't bother, it is probably worse in that case and the benefit is completely lost..
