Kewl dat ol' Sata SSD.

Some of them come with a dab of goop, some don't. Either way, it's good to refresh it after all these years.

You will need a depth gauge to figure out the right thickness of thermal pads.

In this case, from the Controller to pcb measures 1.1mm, from Ram to pcb measures 0.8.    From PCB to casing measures 2.26,

Had Tp4 casually assumed 1mm thermal pads would do, Tp4 would not get very gud' Contact. Always measure

Using 1.5mm with a good finger squish gets it done right.

Also don' forget to add pads to the BACK of the pcb right behind the controller, that way you get front'n'back action and some compressive force.

Thermal results:
Before, 38C idle temp
After,   33C idle temp
