« on: Wed, 01 April 2020, 18:39:24 »

Lots of media reporting these scary headlines.

What do ya'll think of these reports of - supposidly Healthy peeps - kickn' it on Korona  ??

Some daily life observations:

-- Pretty much everyone lies @ the doctors to absolve personal responsibility.

Doctor House: "The patients LIE"

-- Popularity of Binge Drinking/ Marijuana/ Opioid use among young people.

-- Bad hygiene standards of again, young people. Colaage dorms are a nightmare.

-- 40% obesity in 'murica's Adult population. 70% overweight.

Rumours and scaremongering. Statistics from South Korea and Italy say that the virus kills almost only older people with already stressed immune systems.

But yeah... maybe American college kids are more open to drugs ...

Colaage dorms are a nightmare.
I too drank a lot of cola when I was younger ...

Much like anything there is the truth and there's what's recorded.  If you've had a lifelong condition you've never known any different so why would you go to the doctor about it?  If you don't go to the doctor and get it diagnosed you're healthy...

On the other side some people are highly allergic to things that don't bother most - a spec of nut dust requires the use of an epi pen near instantly or death can occur in the unlucky few.  Are a similar tiny percentage of people going to be especially susceptible to any illness?  It's only logical that they are.

Do we need to know?  Apparently we do, at least it seems the idiots out meeting their friends for a few drinks by the canal under cover of darkness still haven't got the message.  Maybe they will be suitably scared into complying with the restrictions if they think healthy people die too (whether they do or not)

There's some talk that they're counting all older people deaths in Italy as coronavirus deaths to try wring some more money from the ECB so it'll be hard tell how deadly it even is amongst that age group.

Towers would be better than laptops for social distancing, harder to move around so you stay in your room in front of your giant screen instead of going on a lan party

Modern lanparties feel different, went 2 one a while back, it didn't have the same Magic.

Also there were like 2 guys that brought their GF, and the GFs kept complaining about being bored, wth man, no grlz allowed, hahahaha. One of them 8 all the Chikm nughatz over 2 days, it were 12lb bag.

This is can't be right..  It seeeems like the numbers are indicating,  We're gonna have 9/11 death tolls (~2000)  every day,  for about 1.5 to 2 month  ??

no wait, sounds bout right,  about 2.8 million people die a year, so that corona number isn't actually a very high number,  depending on background.

I haven't been to a LAN party since about 2002. Didn't even really occur to me they'd still be happening.

I haven't been to a LAN party since about 2002. Didn't even really occur to me they'd still be happening.

We had LAN parties a few times on Saturdays at my company's office a few years back. The problem we had is that most modern games don't even let you host a LAN game; you HAVE to play online (we weren't allowed to use the company's Internet connection for it for whatever reason). So we just played COD4. I thought it was still pretty fun, but I don't have much comparison for PC LAN parties. My friends and I usually played Halo 1 and 2 when the concept was still relevant (We did some 3 and 4, but not as much). Most recently, we played Red Alert 2 at my house, which was somewhat fun, but it's gets old fast, and it's harder to hold people's attention these days. But I definitely agree with TP4 about no girls allowed (unless they actually want to play); to avoid that scenario, it's usually billed as "guys' night".
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.
