I see no sign of burrs on your cuts and that's clearly not scavenged wood - looks like an environmentally motivated fix not poortitude.  A bit of paint and you'd never know :thumb:

switched to these $1 led bulb, guarantees cheapie drivers.

Are you expecting the cheapie driver to short and produce enough heat to make the metal shade glow without tripping the fuse?  That would be very unlucky...

with luck, it will spark some where, catch on fire, Tp4 sues successfully, move to canada ?

from my experience with cheap LED driver they undersized the transistor that gives up in a few months or the bootstrap capacitor fails from the heat of the transistor in both cases your lamp will not fail catastrophically, it will either not turn on or blink...
bottom line buy a few spares for when it fails.
