A stronger-flavored Broccoli..Perfect for stirfry, or steamed/sauced. The stem is the best part, done right, it has a hearty serious crunch. Most often seasoned w/ Hoisin sauce. (sweet potato starch, water, sugar, soybeans, sesame seeds, white distilled vinegar, salt, garlic, red chili peppers)
last recipe i saw for hoisin sauce contained fish sauce... well it was 2nd hand information but still, strange

Don' eat fish sauce. Same goes for shrimp paste.
shrimp paste is abhorrently foul and should not exist at all
Love Gai Lan! Great recommendation, Tp4!
Normal broccoli is already inedible rubbish, why would you want a stronger-flavoured version? xD
Gai lan / jie lan is really good, almost as good as jie cai (Chinese mustard greens) Seems to me that there's a lot of overlap between these vegetables and a bit of a spectrum of varieties between Chinese broccoli and mustard greens.
if you like gai choy you're probably a sociopath.

i can do bitter melon. it's great with that beef stir fry, but gai choy is just nasty hahaha. you know how they always serve it with abalone? next time i'll have the abalone part and you can keep the gai choy.
