What makes you watch a particular keyboard streamer?

Hi friends,

I was really curious what particular reasons there are to attract you to watching a particular keyboard streamer! It's just something I'm curious about because it seems the custom keyboard building community on Twitch is growing pretty rapidly at the moment (which I love)!

I guess the obvious reasons would be things like personality and/or quality, but does it go more in depth than that for those two? And are there other particular reasons that aren't as obvious?

I'm not even sure if anyone will respond to this, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to try

Mainly if they teach me new techniques I've never heard of I'll keep coming back. I also love learning about new switches (not just the latest cherry clone) and a good quality review.

I love Alexotos the most because his streams have a great vibe. Taeha is great, but I tend to like the beginning and end of his VODs more than the whole stream.

There's a ton of them on Twitch now. They're really blowing up during COVID.

I really want to try it(streaming) because it seems like nearly anyone can make super easy money with minimal effort, but I almost feel like it's dirty money. Like making money through social media I'd feel like a hooker or undeserving of the rewards. Does that make sense to anyone else?

It's way more cutthroat than it looks. It's hard to find a niche that really works. Most keyboard streamers just copy Taeha and would be lucky to break 100 views.

@ jinho, I don't think the content matters, if you can get cosmetic surgery done like those korean streamer girls, people will watch and tip you just for being pretty.   Ultimately that aspect's effect on earning will greatly exceed the hardwork from content.   It's actually highly inefficient for you to produce great content,  vs the minimal effort to invest in being prettier.

As enthusiasts, we all agree that keyboards are important,  but relative to the <ignorant> plebs out in the world watching videos,  keyboard is just the headline,   they stay and tip for other reasons that they themselves are unaware of.

Take any movie, replace a pretty girl with an ugly one,  that movie suddenly isn't very engaging, even if it's more less the same movie.

Even if we assume there Exists enough hardcore keeb-enthusiasts to sustain a streamer,   there are ALOT more trashy viewers out there which can make you millions instead.

The whole goal of streaming isn't to make lunch money, it's to make Boat money.

By all means, do both, but one area clearly has more ROI than the other.

Streaming seems like such a bubble to me. I know I've watched huge amount of Youtube in the past but that content at least had some light editing or editorialising going on to make it more engaging. Maybe it appeals to people in the same way a lot of older people like to leave the radio on all day and only pay attention to it now and then.

It's certainly an effective way to sell yourself. You can interact directly with the audience to some extent and create a parasocial relationship where people hand over cash. The sense of just hanging out with someone is sort of compelling but I wonder how large the audience for that kind of thing really is and how long they'll stay engaged watching you natter on for 100's of hours.

I don't get why these Korean kids need surgery. If you look OK and have some makeup/hair skills and good lighting surely surgery isn't going to make much difference.

It's just an example of areas where ROI is higher.

I'm not sure how somebody waxing poetic about some random 60% board on a live stream will ever compete with Chyros ranting about yet another POS keyboard The man is a virtuoso of vile insults and his voice has some serious ASMR qualities. And how else are we ever going to learn about those bizzare switches that came before everything looked like a cherry

think it's funny that there are people on here that have attained some level of internet fame that to me are just plain old gh users but eventually caught on on another platform.
