Heat Exhaustion
« on: Mon, 14 June 2021, 10:39:22 »
Has anyone else experienced a marked decrease in the ability to tolerate heat for long periods after a certain age?

Over the weekend, I attended an all day event in ~90-95 F heat, and, around mid afternoon, I began feeling extremely sluggish despite drinking lots of water and powerade. Eating and resting helped a bit, but not a ton.

A couple years ago, I was training for a long bike ride (I think that day's ride was 65 or 70 miles), and I had to have a nurse friend pick me up and start an IV on me, despite drinking tons of gatorade and snacking. I felt nauseated for a couple hours after being picked up as well.

Prior to my 30s, I don't remember ever having any issues with heat as long as I kept drinking fluids.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.

Yes, just like the cold and everything else.

But, as my grandfather always used to say: "It's better than the alternative."

PS - today is my 69th birthday
"We are on the precipice of signing an agreement to advance talks with Iran that preserves the good parts of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while amplifying its flaws.
Mr. Obama came to an agreement that did not involve America’s most precious treasure, the lives and limbs of our soldiers.  The 1.7 billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets released by Obama pales in comparison to the 300 billion being floated as a rebuilding fund.
So far, speculation that Iran will be free in the future to continue its nuclear program is the opposite of Trump’s stated goal for the war and in direct opposition to what Mr. Obama negotiated.

The solution to all thing is to never go outside.

outside is where the antivaxxers are
outside is where the hot weather is

I never liked heat, hot days. Even when I was a kid.
However yes - I do remember that being a kid, I did not care that much about temperature outside.
There is also one thing I noticed - when I was a kid, in 80s-90s - weather was different - back then 20-25C was kinda max during summer and it was that hot like its now.
Now, living in Scotland, where summers get hot like 25-30C for a week or two, I cant freaking stand temperature higher than 17C.
Even my wife says that nowadays 20C is like 30C 20 years ago:)

Living in Texas past few years I have gotten used to the heat. But now I cant take cold weather which I never had a problem with, when I lived up north.
