Kathy Bate's character, so insane yet realistic.

Honestly I felt like the movie absolutely paled in comparison to the book. Which is probably often the case and I can’t blame the movie for that. It’s been a long time since I read/watched but I remember so much of the book being the inner workings of the protagonists own thoughts and how they couldn’t translate that to the movie. I was left kind of disappointed.

But again, it’s been a loooong time since reading or watching. This could be a figment of my imagination

The original Pet Sematary (1989) - I haven't watched the remake but I know the original is amazing. IT, The Mist, Sleepwalkers, & Maximum Overdrive.

Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Stand by Me, and Misery were all great adaptations of King’s books. Kathy Bates made Annie Wilkes a bit more likable in the movie than how the book portrays her.

When she went and did "the thing in the movie,"  nearly had a heart attack.

I don’t remember. It was probably twenty years since I read it. One thing I do remember is when she rescued him from the car he described her foul breath when she gave him cpr and felt like he was being, in some way, raped. Much darker than the movie. At times in the movie you can easily have empathy, or at least pity for her. I never got that sense in the book.

I don't remember this but my mother mentioned that when I was 6 or 7, after not having much interest in television up to that point, I became a cinephile when I discovered it meant I could stay up past my bed time watching a grown up movie. One night we were watching Misery.

My mother was a bit concerned it wasn't suitable when it got to the part where Kathy Bates hobbles your man in the bed. But I seemed happy enough and not upset so she let me keep watching.

Then it got to the bit when the author makes a break for it, slamming her across the head with the phone and I jumped up and shouted at the TV "Hit her again. She's not dead yet!".
