So you have a franchise that is based on the concept of toys coming to life when they are alone, then you remove that entire thing from the franchise, set it in space, and make it a forgettable whatever no one will remember? It seems insane to me!
Like taking dinosaurs out of Jurassic Park, or taking time travel out of Back To The Future.
Literally the singular thing that defines the entire franchise, and they are like "Hey, people really seem to enjoy Toy Story. What if we took out all the **** people like about it that makes the franchise unique!"

What?

Here I got a pitch for you: The movie's called Mission Impossible 7, and is about an hr rep that works in a government office building filing paperwork for 2 hours. Tom Cruise makes a cameo when he drops by to pick up his W2's.

It's suppose to be the "tv origin" story behind the toy I think.  Not taking place in the "real" toystory universe.

I would rather they make another small soldiers movie, buhhhh... this is ok...

They've already done this with Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and from what I can remember it was pretty decent. Grant it, I was pretty young when I watched it, so what did I know.

I felt Toy Story 4 felt pretty unnecessary already. Disney really are getting worse for recycling things than the videogame publishers at this point.

The new movie doesn't even use the Toy Story name at all. It's a spin off, just like any of the number of different spin offs that have been created throughout the years.

If you're offended by it, don't watch it.

The only thing that grinds my gears is that Buzz is voiced by the insufferable Chris Evans.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.
