I feel as if the Trump administration is working towards dismantling democracy altogether.

ICE, deploying the National Guard, speak of military against insurrections, use of AI-generated videos and deepfakes to spread fake news and propaganda from the White House, etc. etc. The provokations could be intended to cause escalation in hostilities until they provide the excuse that the Trump administration is waiting for.

"Big Tech" is complicit. Microsoft's dark patterns to make people store their data on OneDrive instead of locally, and having peoples' harddrive encryption keys on Microsoft servers, thus making peoples' private data and communications available to US authorities. The circular investments between Microsoft, OpenAI and other AI companies show that they are all intertwined.
This is yet another reason to abandon Windows for Linux.

After a full year of delay, non-MAGA Americans are exhausted, a threshold of outrage fatigue has been reached.
It is hard to muster more than a "what now? - so what?" level of enthusiasm. Remember 10 years ago when Drumpf said that he could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue in broad daylight? Not a long stretch to imagine him torturing a screaming young girl.
With the rule of law collapsed - for one side but not for the other - there is no legal avenue for redress until the elections in November.

I find some consolation in the knowledge that the Republicans have clearly overplayed their hands and only the most deluded citizens can fail to recognize their abject failures across the board, both fiscally and ethically.

The first of several bets they made was placed just 71 minutes before the news broke publicly that air strikes had killed him. When this person bought in, the market had the likelihood of this happening at just 17% probability by February 28. Magamyman turned roughly $87,000 into over half a million dollars overnight. Someone else going by the pseudonym "Curseaaaaaaa," made $757,000 betting Khamenei would be out of power by March 31.

Analysis by analytics firm Bubblemaps SA found that six newly-created accounts made a profit of $1 million by correctly betting that the U.S. would strike Iran by February 28. This is all some lucky, well-timed betting.

The bets were placed on Polymarket, which happens to have Don Jr. as an advisory board member. Jr’s venture firm, 1789 Capital, also made a significant “tens of millions of dollars”  investment in Polymarket."
