so you got this poor district yea ?  sends a guy to go fight in a tournament where there is a potential for serious bodily harm and death.... a tv show with sponsors watched by millions.

he goes back.. with a trophy... we honor our sacrificial humans.

This loosely reminds me of how the new Tekken champ is from Pakistan, a country where video games are banned and not allowed to be imported. People with interest will find a way, and anyone can become the best.
