Lunch Containers
« on: Thu, 24 August 2023, 16:47:15 »
Having some trouble with glass, the tops always get loose after a while, and it leaks, you can tie it up with something but that's not been the perfect solution.

Looking at metal, but it doesn't look like the designs seal any better, and if it bends, overtime, might get leaks too.

What do you guys use?

Ziplock twist-top containers are what I use and depending on what it is I might grab my Stanley Thermos.

I'm a huge fan of the dabbawala containers they use in India. They keep goopy Indian food from going all over, while being transported on horrible roads to hundreds of people a day, all by bike and moped.

If they make a smaller version of those, that is what I would use. You could huck it down a mountain and still have a good lunch.

Japanese lunch boxes had some solutions I remember,
They are quite serious about the lunchboxes and they carry soup too.
Maybe looking up the amzn jp could help you?

Tiffin containers. Yeah, they're useful though my only critique is the base of each stack above the next will (obviously) get some of the contents of the stack below if shuffled about too much, though if there's enough headroom between it's not an issue.

It boggles the mind that in 2023, collective humanity has NOT mastered the lunch-box.

In my opinion, these are the best although they are heavy and expensive.

For the cheaper and lighter option, I also prefer the Ziplock screw-tops.

“No political truth is of greater intrinsic value, or is stamped with the authority of more enlightened patrons of liberty: The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands .… may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” —James Madison, Federalist 47
“All the powers of government, legislative, executive, and judiciary, result to the legislative body. The concentrating of these in the same hands, is precisely the definition of despotic government. An ELECTIVE DESPOTISM was not the government we fought for; but one .... in which the powers of government should be so divided and balanced among several bodies of magistracy, as that no one could transcend their legal limits, without being effectually checked and restrained by the others.” — Thomas Jefferson, commentary on Federalist 48

The problem is the lid comes loose after a while and they start leaking. If you refrigerate, those flaps also crack off eventually.

Don't wash the tops in the dishwasher at high temperature.

Tp4 can't afford to use the dish washer,  it's like 4 hours of electricity + hot water.

Flexing refrigerated plastic is never a good idea. I try to let it warm up to room temperature wehnever I can.

Find a tree. Eat a couple acorns. Weight loss ensues. No plastic needed.

I just use a bag.
Usually I don't eat lunch though. My adderall makes me not want to eat.
