What's your digital nomad setup?
« on: Tue, 17 October 2023, 00:11:02 »
Anyone got a cool setup to share that is really good for taking around college campus? Right now I am using a low profile tented corne + logitech Lift, and was wondering what setups you guys have. Im looking for more cool options to take around since I'm hardly ever in my dorm.

not in college but for HS and sometimes work i carry my HHKB Pro 2 Type-S with hasu bt controller and a Razer Orochi V2

i wanna get a new Pro 3 Hybrid Type-S but expensive asf lol. would definitely recommend one if u want a nice portable keyboard!! very lightweight, comfy asf to type on (bcs Topre) not too loud to use around other people and u can buy a wrist rest that acts as a cover (or just a regular PC cover cuz PFU sells that too lol)

That's interesting. I just use my laptop keyboard to type at school, cause it's more inconvenient to bring a keyboard, especially my daily driver/s. If I had to bring a keyboard I would bring something silent. When I get a bluetooth hhkb I'll silence it and would take that.

cherry blacks - unlubed - filmed and springswapped with tx 55g mediums - alu Plate | pretty happy with this, the blacks were cherry picked so they weren't that scratchy to begin with, but currently breaking them in, may lube them with a dry lube like ro59 or ptfe powder.

lubed with tribosys 3203 | like topre a lot, prefer it lubed but did make less tactile but that might have been a skill issue. probably will get more tactile over time as the domes age.

bad orange alps lol | definitely needs a restoration. planning on wax boiling them and maybe a replacement pcb because the board has only 2 key rollover apparently.

gateron yellows - lubed with 205g0 - 62g tx mediums - pc plate | probably my favourite keyboard already, feels super nice and sounds pretty good, it's got a great layout as well. probably gonna build this with mx browns, I feel like it would suit the board more.

stock with silent reds | Pretty cool looking board, the silent reds are actually good, they are smooth and I don't mind the mushiness (it's not even that mushy as well). the layout is pretty weird, but is useable. will probably mod this in the future. maybe a pcb and plate swap, change the keycaps to something dolch like, and also spring swap the springs in the silent reds.

stock, needs a cleaning and probably replacement foam. Do plan to change layout so it has split bs and rs, as well as ansi enter.

Built with new nixies on pc half plate. Love this board already, probably the best looking board I own, those brass accents are so mint. Really like it as is, but I do want to try an alu build (probably with nixies as well) just to experiment with that.

When I work on my laptop now, I actually start to feel the itch to pull out my split after like 15 mins if I don't do it right away, cause I instantly miss being able to quickly and comfortably touch type all symbols plus having the arrow keys xD. But yeah its def more inconvenient, and I have to carry it around

ill send a pic cuz its coming today (after i get out of school) but this is the exact spec mine is gonna be

and yeah of course they arent as portable as a split or a 40% but they are still pretty small, i can fit it in my small bookbag easily with the dust cover on. its also really lightweight but still sturdy af
