New Trek is out.

As far as alien egg-sacks go, these look pretty decent. Not cheesy or too sticky.

Bah...  Enterprises UI has very lowwwww resolution, look at all that aliasing.

You'd expect future flat panels to be much better than this. Also looks like an LCD, future displays would almost certainly be Emissive, because there's absolutely no need for backlights when they've mastered durable quantum materials.

Spoiler Alert,

Episode 3 doesn't make much since, since "They" run into and deal with aliens all the time,  why exactly would the captain be against/weirded out that his girlfriend is turned into an alien hybrid (to save her life).  Why's that remotely an issue in "the future."  This plot point is nonsense and not well designed.

Gave up since episode 4, it wasn't hitting right.

Starting up now.  Celia Rose Gooding, what is going on, is she pregnant?

Sigh.. right into episode 5, and they devote like straight 5 minutes into the love-polygon situation with Spock.

This is just ridiculous, and a waste of Star Trek minutes.

Who ever ok'd this story Arc should be sent to a bad place.

OMG...  Are you telling me, that Aliens supposidely highly advanced, would use a modern monotype chinese heiti font designed for human computer screens.

And this super advanced alien, would try to speak Chinese to a landing-party crew of 0x Chinese persons.

There isn't even anything mysterious about the setup, it's just stupid.

Right next to squiggly looking alien cursive,  you've got monotype Heiti.  The audience may be willing to accept that Star Trek being an American show wouldn't have a very good cultural director versed in Asian script,  but even AESTHETICALLY,  it's a ridiculous contrast.

Ok, episode 5, not awful.

It's just,  well if it's an ancient high tech alien prison, how come it's so easy to just get in, and everyone can just start pressing buttons and trigger pretty consequential security apparatuses,

That's just bad prison design.  Not a well written episodes by modern standards.

Sss.. ok, what is happening with Star Trek.

Episode 6, again, starting up yet another love-polygon with Laan Spock Kirk.

A real head-scratcher.. Did they do a focus group for the Younger-Trek fanbase, and everyone voted unanimously for m0ar love-polygons.

This isn't a coincidence, they're really pushing this hard, front and center,  the question is WHYyyyy.

Episode 6,  well,  don't hate it,  but pretty close.  Just lazy writing.

Hook up the enterprise with copper cables for landline phones? Even the AI writer wouldn't go with something so ridiculous.  That's not even how phones work.

E7. mmm..   At least this one is more complex, but not a great resolution.

Is this the first godzilla style bio-weapon plot used in trek? It's a decent episode.  Morally though, if they already knew they were helping move a bio-weapon, how can the federation make the assumption that it'd be non-sentient to begin with , and then suddenly experience moral outrage, that oh hey, you shouldn't use such a thing in war.

I mean, it's strange that they'd OK the mission, because our concept of sentience only requires a critical mass in brain cells, it's not super special.

Galactic lvl kind of sentience would be even less rare, as it only requires the Rules of physics, nodes, and frame of reference. Something that existence is chupfullof.

I mean, would it be OK to have a giant bio-weapon if it was "Less" sentient?

We train horses, and dogs for war. If people don't give a darn about that.

Episode 9,  It's an enemy mine + entity riff.

Not bad.  Not great.

Overall, do hyper intelligent beings bother with this kind of stuff, probably not. Maybe they do it for entertainment, but even then they'd have to be pretty bored.

And if you think about it,  If they became that "intelligent" just to become that "bored",  it really shows you "the chase" for omniscience itself may be quite silly/foolish.

Mmmm....E 10.

They're doing captain planet. It's not that Tp4 doesn't like captain planet, buhhh... it's kind of a stretch here given the setup.

Minor detail, but  Star Trek wouldn't use ice as crappy as this for drinks.  They would use much better/ perfect ice orbs.

Welp. Ok, finished S3.

It's soso.  Feel like getting older just means one may never find that magic of TV again.

At this junction, it's a decent show. Don't feel like they're capitalizing on the social commentaries that are possible.  They've played it extremely safe and generic.

Star Trek used to be more brave.

Something that Trek has never properly addressed.

Conquerors in nature don't truly exist. Empires are actually self terminating.

If we're supposed to head into the Distant future,  they've never hammered out the idea of HOW we got past Imperialist behavior of life-systems.
