Money Saving Tips (WW3)

PC:

Tp4 has reduced things like graphx settings from 8K 144fps to 1080p 144fps, GPU goes from 435watts to 75watts.

Change Desktop to 4K 60hz instead of 4K 144hz, Gpu goes from 60watt idle to 25-40watt.

Lower brightness, as you know 77 inch tvs use up to 300watts of power, 75-ish nominal,  if you lower the brightness, you can knock out 20 or so watts.

PASTA:

Pasta takes ALOT of energy if you do it the "right" way. Boil water, pasta, 10-12min, drain.

COLD WATER PASTA, has its roots in Wartime, Start with Pasta already in cold water, get it to boil for 1.5-2 minutes, Then just leave it to cook on residual heat for 5-10 minutes.  It's very much still possible to produced Al-dente, you just have to figure-out by trial the Rest-Time for the THICKNESS of the pasta in question. Spaghetti/Bowties will take ~7-10 minutes of rest, whereas elbows/angelhair take only 4-5 minutes of rest.

Not wasting ketchup/ soysauce.

Were en't dumplrz 2day.  annnd, there was clearly soysauce left over. Saving it for later, instead of pouring it out.

turns off
 at night.

I turn off literally everything in the house except for refrigerator, chest freezer, HVAC, water heater, and 2 night lights every night, 8 hours of rest for all of us.

"We are on the precipice of signing an agreement to advance talks with Iran that preserves the good parts of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while amplifying its flaws.
Mr. Obama came to an agreement that did not involve America’s most precious treasure, the lives and limbs of our soldiers.  The 1.7 billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets released by Obama pales in comparison to the 300 billion being floated as a rebuilding fund.
So far, speculation that Iran will be free in the future to continue its nuclear program is the opposite of Trump’s stated goal for the war and in direct opposition to what Mr. Obama negotiated.

Tp4 used to just leave the PC on.

Definitely no more of that.

We're going into 9999% Economic Depression, the likes of which you've NEVER SEEN.

Switching to strictly military showers.

Water on, Wet, Water off, Shampoo (rationed 1/2 dollop), Soap. Water on, Water off.

Thinking about getting a solar cooker.

When, you're running out of ketchup, reduce dipping, DO NOT go for more ketchup, one must conserve and space things out from here on out.

Not so much for pasta, but for rice, pressure cookers work great.

Steep rice overnight, at the end of steep, water should be approximately 0.7 cm above rice, ensure flat even surface when placed on heating surface. Heat to boil, wait for pressure lock,  pressure lock 3 minutes at low-medium flame,  flame off,  residual cook 15 minutes.

Pressure cooking rice uses significantly less fuel/power than electric cookers, but it's not plug and play as it takes some fanangling because different heating setups can over the vessel and char the bottom too much.

For pasta, the pressure cooker doesn't really cook it much faster.

I see...
Doing pasta in rice-cookers doesn't work well either.

If you play old games,  warcraft 3 runs around 200 watts, 7680x4320 @ 340fps.  You can cut it down to just 10% above base watts, at 1080p 144hz. 70-80watts

It’s interesting how even “PC gaming” spaces naturally drift away from sports titles over time — not because of any hard rule, but because of audience clustering and what gets engagement. Football games definitely have their own huge communities, they just don’t overlap much with general PC talk. Same pattern you see in other niche hubs too, where topics fragment into their own ecosystems. Even in broader gaming discussions like on https://ufc-fighters.com/, you can see how interest groups naturally separate but still occasionally cross paths.
thanks for the information!
