Fires this year
« on: Wed, 15 July 2026, 05:41:11 »
Not in the headlines, but they're VERY BAD.

Air purifiers, You're gonna need 1x per room.  Don't buy a big one, just get several small ones and close the door to the room.  Less loud, m0ar clean air.

The big ones need alot of RPM to achieve their "claimed" peak output, LOUD.

Stay off-brand, Branded cost2x-10x as much, it's the same stuff. Paper filter + fan, there's no special technology.

Avoid or disable the ionizers (plasmawave, etc),  it creates black soot.

-- It's odd that the news writes, Vibrant Fiery Sunsets,  to describe the CLIMATE CATASTROPHE that it is.

There have been large fires in southern Europe in the past few weeks during the heat-wave, but I suppose US news don't mention that either.

Speaking about warm weather must be considered too "woke", I suppose.

It's great most of the time.

If we're heading into an Energy Sparse world,  is canada which requires 1 too many steam cores, going to be a stable place to live.

There might be a transition period where, people have to leave because we're out of energy, then it gets so hot down south, they have to go back because now it's livable again having become temperate.

Brands to avoid, mainly due to price.

Winix
Levoit
Coway

Everything else is decent.

Don't worry about CADR rating, it's irrelevant, because they're all too loud @ the peak setting.

Just look for 12inch x 12 inch unit,  run it on low or medium, 24/7, door closed, 1 per room.

A small oscillating fan in the room helps greatly with filtration efficiency.  Point it at the wall diagonally.

Day 2 surviving the DeathKloud.

Tp4 sat lamely as he reflects on his complicity in the ecological nightmare. The reaper has come to collect, debt owed, 1x Civilization.

Basicallly, every 100 points in AQI is about 1 extra cigarette smoked per day.

So, if you stayed out side all day,  You smoked 3-5 cigarettes today, @ 300-500 AQI.

This is why people born in NewDelhi have grey / black lungs (instead of pink) by the time they're 20-30, they discovered this in autopsies on young people.

There's no one with healthy lungs there.

Imagine being born, you're a baby, and you smoke 3-5 cigarettes PER DAY, EVERY DAY.

And SOMETIMES,  10 cigarettes a day.  :-X

'muriknP4 complaining about 300AQI, running 8 air purifiers,  when NewDelhi bros work all day outside in 700++.

/Perspective

Tp4 suspects it will get worse, as energy supplies tighten, and India has to ramp up m0ar_Coal.

State side, slow wind speeds, meaning the Smog is going to be for a whole week or more.

This is fine, we're fine.  Canada bears some blame, they're destroying their forest by selling wood into the bio-matter power plants in europe.   Literal wood fire power plants, YES they're doing that.

Day 4 in the deatklwd.

Hope dwindling.

The smog is relentless, blew out to sea for a few hours, then circled back.

The dialog between nature and mankind, behold, what evil you've sewn.

For _west management, what is that even?  Well, actually, it's a set of convoluted paid science for logging companies to just "cut some" trees down,,  to pock mark the land, and eventually TAKE IT ALL.

They're not going in there and just picking up sticks. They use it as an excuse to set up camp, then the local govrnment that approved it turns a blind eye when they start taking out larger pieces of forest flesh.   They'll cite things like, bugs, dry fuel on the ground, etc.

ACTUALLLLYYY,  that fallen biomatter Traps Moisture at the surface, to keep the soil moist. The moisture cultures the soil, fungus and other bacteria which the "Eco SYSTEM" needs.

Where it does dry out into tinder, is in sporadic situations where it's either a plantation (green desert, single species zone planted by humans) or some other damaged unhealthy patch (by previous logging).

Green desert is a big issue, A forest requires a diverse set of plant and animal species,  if you just have 100% pine tree, that arrangement could not thrive, it grows just enough to be culled for "profit."  WHILE, destroying the soil underneath.

Old growth f0h ,west looks nothing like pine deserts.
