Ugreen (reputable) doin' dat Hdmi 2.1 cable sale.
Seems like they're gearing up for HDMI 2.2, which is why 2.1 cables are going on sale.
To, COUNTERPUNCH, Silkland (also reputable), clipped an extra 50cents off, 6.6feet for $8.49.
But the biggest winner here is the 10 feet, Ugreen sells for $16.99, Silkland doing $12.73. That's a pretty big deal.
DO NOT buy a 2.1 cable longer than 10 feet, unless you Absolutely-need-to, they're already unreliable at 10 feet.
They only sell these because most people aren't using anywhere near 2.1 bandwidth.
For Nvidia gpu it doesn't matter much, because DSC is always force enabled by driver, so it never gets near the 2.1 bandwidth. (unless) you have a monitor that can disable DSC, some high end models have this.
DSC is 3:1 compression (NOT LOSSLESS, they lie about it), so if you have 40gigabit (4K144hz, max payload bandwidth), it can push it down to 14gigabit , Even hdmi 2.0 cables can handle that.
For AMD GPU, you can force disable DSC by editing EDID of the TV/Monitor. This way you can push into true Hdmi 2.1 territory, THIS requires a good cable.
Tp4 went through 4x 2.1 cables @ 10 feet to find a reliable one.
The point is, 2.1 cables on average, from a reputable brand is better, than bandit-brands that bet on people actually only using 1.3-1.4 lvl bandwidth.
Overall, the sale is legit, considering most of the time, these are $20+
